He hadn't used it before because he lacked suitable equipment, and his magic was insufficient. But now, he had just acquired a powerful weapon, his magic was abundant, and he possessed the golden profession of Holy Enchanter. All the conditions had finally converged. There was no reason to hesitate any longer. Kong Zhe also wanted to test just how effective the enchantments of a Holy Enchanter could be.

Holding the treasured sword in one hand and the tentacle hide in the other, Kong Zhe closed his eyes and focused his magic into both hands, activating the enchantment skill.

...

An hour later, Kong Zhe collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath. He hadn't understood the Enchanter profession before and thought it was like other jobs—press a button and the item would appear. Now he realized how mistaken he was: the entire enchantment process required his direct control. When to channel magic, how much to infuse, and any mistake would result in total failure, with the enchanting materials consumed.

Although all the knowledge of Enchanters was branded into Kong Zhe's mind as if engraved, he was still only a low-level apprentice, and enchantment carried a significant chance of failure. He wished he'd practiced beforehand.

Luckily, he succeeded on his first attempt; otherwise, he would have wasted a precious purple material.

He picked up the newly forged Sword of Revelation.

Untold Stories—Revelation.

All attributes increased by 3 points, attack power increased by 9 points.

Additional skill: Summon Abyssal Tentacle.

Summons a tentacle from the abyss to assist in battle. The tentacle cannot move, has a maximum attack range of ten meters, and lasts five minutes. Consumes 100 magic points. Usable once per day.

Kong Zhe trembled, nearly dropping the Sword of Revelation.

His basic attributes had tripled. Of course, this was because his initial stats were so low; in reality, it was only an increase of two points to all attributes and six points to attack power. But what truly astonished Kong Zhe was what came next.

Unbelievable—a skill appeared directly, and he was just an apprentice enchanter!

Ordinarily, standard enchanters only enhance stats; only those at master level and above can use high-level materials to enchant items with extra skills.

Could this be the true power of a Holy Enchanter? An apprentice could achieve what masters could!

Still, Kong Zhe understood that part of the reason was the unique nature of the tentacle hide—after all, abyssal items were exceedingly rare among their peers and naturally more potent.

It was a pity the summoned tentacle couldn't move; otherwise, the skill would be formidable. Although he hadn’t tested it yet, he’d heard tales of the abyssal tentacles’ renown: it took a team of awakened ones at level ten or higher just to slay a single tentacle.

Even so, this skill could serve as a defensive measure. For the foreseeable future, as long as he activated it, he and his teammates would be safe within the tentacle's attack range. Enemies would never dare approach; even awakened ones at level ten or higher couldn’t withstand a few strikes. Though ten meters wasn’t a vast area, it was adequate.

Overall, the skill was highly practical.

He swung the new Sword of Revelation a couple of times, feeling deeply satisfied, unable to resist opening his status panel to check his current stats.

Character: Kong Zhe.

Level: 5.

Experience: 450/1600.

Strength: 30.

Agility: 31.

Intelligence: 37.

Health: 600.

Magic: 370.

Attack Power: 46.

Skills: Water Wave, Distorted Light, Holy Summoning Level 2, Summon Abyssal Tentacle.

Remaining skill points: 1.

Equipment: Sword of Revelation, Merman Ripper, six other white-grade items, Storage Ring.

He could wear up to twelve items: chest armor, shoulder cloak, gloves, shoes, pants, belt, hat or mask, one necklace, two rings, and one weapon in each hand.

Though he hadn’t fully equipped himself yet, he was close.

As for the remaining skill point, Kong Zhe decided to hold onto it. Although he had enough experience to unlock another one-star card, he preferred to save up and try opening a level-three or higher card. After all, one-star cards were quite weak, offering only ordinary E-grade skills.

Of course, the two cards he’d already unlocked were decent—not just for their effects but for their unexpected benefits. For example, the Water Wave card had been crucial: five fishing attempts had made him rich overnight.

But he didn’t believe every card would yield such miracles, so he’d rather save his experience and unlock higher-level cards later.

It was only midday, and their journey would begin tomorrow; he shouldn’t waste the remaining time.

With a knife in one hand, sword in the other, and a dagger at his waist, Kong Zhe was in high spirits, striding outside to prey upon the monsters lurking beyond the compound.

He couldn’t just charge out and slay beasts, as they gathered in packs outside; that would be suicide. Instead, he could lure them in, one at a time.

Half an hour later, Kong Zhe finally found the compound gate's remote control at the guardhouse. He hid near the gate, watching the few monsters wandering close by, and pressed the remote with a sly grin.

The slow whirring of the gate drew the monsters' attention; they rushed over, howling at the moving gate, but since they didn’t detect a human scent, they quickly lost interest and resumed their aimless patrol.

Kong Zhe waited until two or three monsters entered through the gate, then pressed the remote again, trapping them inside.

Seeing his plan succeed, Kong Zhe chuckled, emerged from the bushes, and sprinted deeper into the compound. The three monsters quickly spotted the audacious human and gave chase, snarling after him.

Before long, the monsters were far from the gate, and Kong Zhe stopped fleeing. In the distance, the little dog rushed in to engage one monster, and Kong Zhe drew the Sword of Revelation and joined the fray...

In moments, all three monsters lay dead and howling. With the dog's healing and the Water Wave card, their endurance was never an issue.

Kong Zhe returned to the gate, took out the remote, and repeated the process...

Using this method, Kong Zhe continued to slay monsters. Though the efficiency was low, after several hours he had killed dozens, finally completing a full set of equipment and accumulating a few extra white-grade items.

Most of these monsters were only level one. Higher-level awakened ones gain less experience for killing weaker creatures, so for level-five Kong Zhe, the experience gained was negligible. While he collected plenty of white items and silver coins, what he truly needed—experience—barely increased.

...

Around five or six in the evening, Kong Zhe ceased his hunt and returned to Xue Feifei's home.

At that moment, Tuantuan had awakened and was chatting with Xiao Lei, while Xue Feifei, wearing safety goggles, tinkered with her little dragonfly using an unknown pen-like tool.

Hongling sat alone, bored, but her face brightened when Kong Zhe appeared at the door.

Kong Zhe nodded to her, then pointed to the other three women. "You three, come downstairs with me!"

He turned to leave, but paused at the door, hesitating before quietly saying, "Hongling, you come too."

Hongling had felt disappointed when he called only the other three, but hearing those words stunned her. She could hardly believe her ears, then rejoiced and hurried after him.

When the four women reached the fifth floor, Kong Zhe led them into an empty apartment.

All four were startled upon entering, for in the center of the room stood four tables, each bearing a monster with severed limbs. Every monster had been chopped at the arms and legs, their health reduced to a minimum, lying weak and helpless upon the tables.

Seeing the setup, the women immediately understood Kong Zhe's intentions.

He offered no further explanation, simply placed a sharp dagger and a gun on the table before him. "Who wants to go first?"

They were leaving tomorrow. Whether they liked it or not, they would have to face these terrifying beasts, so better to train their courage now than panic on the road.

Kong Zhe believed that once they killed a monster themselves, their fear would diminish greatly in future encounters.

"I'll do it!"

Hongling spoke first. Unlike the other three, she was eager, responding almost before Kong Zhe finished speaking.

She picked up the dagger and approached a merman.

The merman seemed to sense its fate; though weak, it opened its maw and howled at Hongling.

Facing such an ugly creature, it was impossible not to be afraid. But she knew she couldn't show fear, for Kong Zhe was watching her. Such opportunities were rare—she had to perform her best. If she wished to follow him in the future, this was the most basic requirement.

So, gritting her teeth, she stabbed the merman...

The process went smoothly. The first blow didn’t kill it, so she quickly delivered another, finally ending its life.

Kong Zhe nodded in approval, his expression showing praise. For a woman’s first time, her composure was remarkable.

"Tuantuan, your turn!"

Taking the dagger from Hongling, Kong Zhe handed it to Tuantuan.
