This method had been proven effective in his previous life, but awakening required magical power that only purple-grade equipment could provide. For ordinary people, possessing such a precious item was nearly impossible.

With this in mind, Kong Zhe opened his mouth wide and shoved the entire box inside. The box was somewhat large for his mouth, barely fitting, but he only needed to endure for a few seconds.

Sure enough, as soon as the box entered his mouth, Kong Zhe felt the surrounding magic surge toward him with ferocious intensity. At the same time, a golden beam of light struck down from the sky like lightning, piercing through the rooftop and landing precisely upon him.

Wrapped in golden light, Kong Zhe felt himself rising, his whole body enveloped in warmth. His physique was gradually becoming stronger and more powerful.

The scene unfolding before him was exactly as it had been when he awakened in his past life, except that the golden light enveloping him now was far more intense. The density of this light directly influenced the initial degree of physical enhancement for the awakened. With such a thick glow, Kong Zhe estimated that this time, his strengthening would far surpass what he had experienced before.

The woman, watching Kong Zhe float in midair, was so shocked she seemed to have seen a ghost. Yet she was too exhausted to scream; after witnessing so many bizarre events today, she had grown numb.

Bang, bang, bang...

Just as Kong Zhe was immersed in his awakening, a forceful pounding echoed from the door.

A sudden jolt of alarm struck him—had a magical beast already found its way here? His room was at the top floor, and in theory, the golden light of awakening should not attract beasts from the ground, unless one happened to descend upon this building.

Hearing the knocking, the woman looked toward the door in delight, murmuring, "Could it be the police?" She began moving slowly toward the entrance, though fear made her hesitate.

"Are you stupid? Police? Use your brain—it’s obviously a magical beast!" Kong Zhe saw her actually considering opening the door and could not contain his anger, shouting at her. Though he was floating and unable to control his body, he could still speak.

"Ah!" The woman was startled, recalling the bloody scene she had witnessed earlier, and hurriedly moved away from the door.

Bang, bang...

The pounding grew louder and louder until, with a tremendous crash, the door was smashed open. A green-skinned fish-man, covered entirely in scales, appeared in the doorway.

The fish-man first saw the woman nearby, but upon noticing the glow surrounding Kong Zhe, its eyes immediately turned blood-red, as if it had spotted a delicacy beyond compare. Abandoning the woman, it charged straight toward Kong Zhe.

Damn!

Kong Zhe's heart raced. He was in the midst of awakening, unable to control his body, and now he couldn’t even dodge.

Thunk!

The fish-man lunged, slamming fiercely into Kong Zhe’s abdomen. The powerful blow sent Kong Zhe flying, crashing through desks and chairs before smashing against the wall and tumbling down.

He felt as though his internal organs had shifted, coughing up blood as three or four ribs snapped.

He swallowed the scream that threatened to escape, knowing he could not cry out, or he would only attract more beasts.

Yet Kong Zhe was not worried about dying; during awakening, no matter how grievous the injuries, they would heal instantly.

Sure enough, within the golden light, his wounds began to heal rapidly. The broken ribs rejoined as if rewinding time, and soon, Kong Zhe was completely restored.

But it wasn’t over. The fish-man, after delivering its first blow, darted at him again. Raising its sharp claws, it struck his chest with brutal force. Kong Zhe could only watch helplessly as the cold, gleaming talons sliced through his lung like tofu.

Immediately, blood gushed from his chest like water from a broken valve. With his respiratory organs destroyed, he could not breathe.

His vision blurred, and the fish-man’s figure became a jumble of overlapping shapes.

But in the next moment, his chest healed with astonishing speed, and in less than a second, he was whole again.

Compared to the pain of injury, the whiplash between heaven and hell tormented Kong Zhe even more.

Seeing Kong Zhe recover once again, the fish-man let out a furious screech, raising its claws for another attack.

For the next three minutes, the room was filled with the sound of flesh being torn and Kong Zhe’s muffled groans.
