Chapter 136: Thunderstorm Revelry
Just as they thought everything was safe, a beam of red light shot forth from the coffin, causing the two to hurriedly step backward. A dark figure slowly materialized from within the red light, eventually forming a human silhouette over two meters tall. With a flourish of his large red-collared cloak, a handsome man dressed in formal evening wear came into view. His appearance was ambiguous, hovering between masculine and feminine, making it impossible to tell his gender at a glance—he looked almost like a drag queen. His blonde hair was swept back into a long, dashing braid, and two sharp, pointed fangs peeked casually from the corners of his mouth.
"What the hell, this freak is actually a vampire!" Hu Guozheng's scalp tingled.
With black lines hanging down his forehead, the man gazed coldly at the two intruders, a bizarre smile playing on his lips. For ordinary vampires, drinking human blood was a great tonic that enabled them to survive indefinitely. But for the Sanguine, a unique branch of vampires, consuming human blood not only ensured longevity but also continuously enhanced their own power. If a Sanguine vampire were to continuously feed on human blood, they would become the strongest being in the entire world in less than a few years. For the sake of world balance, such a dangerous lineage had thus become the primary target of elite hunter families.
Unlike ordinary vampires, who drew strength from the night and saw their powers halved during the day, the Sanguine were free from this limitation and possessed the advantage of wings that ordinary vampires lacked, making them all the more terrifying. Because the Sanguine had been relentlessly hunted and nearly driven to extinction, only a single half-breed named Ye Tang remained alive in the world today. This was precisely why Yoyo had once hesitated not at all to push her into the Five-Color Space in an attempt to annihilate the Sanguine bloodline entirely.
"Today's rations aren't bad at all; supernatural beings, no less. Although there's a bit of bad breath, they are far more delicious than ordinary humans."
Food? A drop of sweat hung on Hu Guozheng's head. This bastard actually regarded him as food! Damn it, if you dare to eat your daddy, I'll finish you off right now, you hermaphroditic monster! "Ugh! This freak is so disgusting."
"What did you say, you fat pig? Who is a freak?" the man asked furiously.
"Whoever answers is the freak, obviously."
"You have successfully angered me. I will make you wish you were dead. Remember my name: I am Baron Smith." The man roared in fury. The most innocent bystander of all was Du Bin, who hadn't said a single word yet managed to catch a stray bullet. He was utterly speechless.
"Shit-smith, you're just a pile of shit, shit-shit-smith," Hu Guozheng said, not forgetting to stick out his tongue at him.
Stamping his feet in rage, Smith whipped a long, black weapon from his waist and lashed out frantically at the two of them. Du and Hu split to the left and right, dodging the continuous onslaught. Every strike of Smith's whip against the steel plates produced a sharp, metallic clang.
As he ran, Du Bin hurled lightning balls. Several of them were shattered by the whip, while Hu Guozheng stopped in his tracks on the other side and slammed his fists fiercely into the ground, triggering a violent resonance. The entire room shook and swayed. Sensing the lethal vibration traveling beneath his feet, Smith immediately leaped into the air to evade the shockwave's damage. But right at that moment, Du Bin's lightning balls struck once more. Caught mid-air with no way to dodge, Smith had no choice but to take the full impact of the lightning with his physical body.
"You think you can harm this lord with such childish toys? Heh." Feeling that the power of the lightning ball was insignificant—only producing a slight tingling sensation—Smith wore a look of disdain as he landed back on the ground.
Seeing his expression, Du Bin smiled inwardly; he had intentionally held back the power of that lightning ball. Gathering a much larger lightning ball once more, he pushed his hands forward, sending the sphere hurtling toward Smith amidst a crackling web of countless lightning arcs. Smith extended a single palm to catch it, but his disdainful expression vanished instantly in a flash of terror, for he sensed that this lightning ball was several times more powerful than the previous one.
The moment the lightning ball collided with his hand, the surrounding electrical arcs transformed into blinding rays of light, triggering a series of explosions. A surge of intense electricity raced from his palm straight through his entire body. Seeing his hand begin to turn charred and black, Smith flew into a rage. With his other hand, he punched the center of the lightning ball, causing it to detonate instantly. Reeling from the shockwave, Smith was sent flying backward.
"Coughing up a mouthful of blood, Smith glared at his own disheveled state in burning anger, his eyes turning crimson. Suddenly, he raised his head and let out a heaven-shaking roar, sending concentric rings of ultrasonic waves rippling outward. The enclosed space only magnified the devastating effect.
"Damn it, what is this bastard howling about?" The two men covered their ears with wretched expressions, feeling as though the strange frequency was about to shatter their eardrums.
"Hmph! Those struck by my Death Scream will fall into disarray for a short time," Smith laughed heartily. Wasting no time, he exposed his two fangs and lunged straight toward Du Bin.
Seeing Smith close in while finding himself unable to use his supernatural abilities, his body paralyzed under the piercing gaze of the vampire's eyes, Du Bin could only watch as Smith gripped his shoulders tightly and sank his fangs into his neck. Realizing the critical situation, Hu Guozheng sprinted toward them from the other side, using his momentum to slam directly into Smith's back.
Taken aback by the collision, Smith hesitated for a split second, spinning around to lash out with the back of his hand. "Seeking death, you fat pig!"
Hu Guozheng dodged nimbly. Freed from the paralysis, Du Bin recovered his footing. The Death Scream lasted for precisely ten seconds; the moment it ended, Du and Hu launched a frenzied, close-quarters assault on Smith. Juggling defense against Du Bin's lightning attacks while fending off Hu Guozheng's internal-damage strikes, Smith felt his head spinning with overwhelm.
"Night Demon's Assault!" Smith leaped backward with all his might onto the ceiling, extending his hands. Swirls of dark mist immediately manifested in his palms, billowing toward the two men like a dense fog, within which countless bats could be seen swooping and diving.
Seeing the swarm of bats charging at them, Hu Guozheng instantly raised an earthen wall in front of himself to block them. "What the hell, so many dead bats!"
The horde of bats slammed into the earthen wall with a rapid succession of thuds. The moment the dark mist touched the soil barrier, it began to corrode it rapidly. In less than the blink of an eye, the entire wall collapsed. Watching the barrier fail in a mere instant, Hu Guozheng's expression turned grim.
Seeing the swarm about to overrun Hu Guozheng, Du Bin flashed to his side, instantly forming a circular barrier of lightning to envelop them both. Unlike the earthen wall, this lightning shield resisted the corrosion effortlessly thanks to its ability to distort magnetic fields. "Fatty!"
Coming to his senses, Hu Guozheng let out a loud shout, unleashing a yellowish Death Cross Slash of energy that blasted toward Smith. With a cold snort, Smith waved a hand, drawing a wisp of power from the dark mist attacking the lightning barrier to counter the incoming cross slash.
The dark mist and the energy of the cross slash collided, sending sparks flying in all directions. Neither side could overpower the other for a moment until a deafening crash triggered a massive explosion, filling the space with thick smoke.
Through the dense smoke, Hu Guozheng's sharp eyes caught sight of Smith landing on the ground. Pushing his supernatural power to its absolute limit, he slammed his fists into the floor repeatedly. "Die, you freak!"
Reeling from the delayed impact of the first wave of resonance, Smith felt a stifling tightness in his chest and coughed up another mouthful of blood. He forced himself to retreat, but every step felt agonizingly heavy. The accumulated internal injuries wreaked havoc on his organs, with each subsequent shockwave compounding the damage.
His clothes shredded, his flesh torn open into bloody fissures, Smith was reduced to a gory spectacle in moments. His face twisted in agony. "I'll kill you both, you cursed espers!"
Seeing the dark mist and bats circling overhead, and his body crackling with lightning to ward off the resonance damage, Du Bin charged at Smith without a shred of hesitation. His fists rained blows upon Smith from all angles, every punch crackling with electrical force until Smith's body was charred pitch-black all over.
Sensing the time was right, Du Bin slammed both palms onto Smith's temples, holding on with a death grip. "Let's share a lightning carnival together!"
