After dealing with the security guards, the two men walked into the office, only to find it empty. Hu Guozheng, with his sharp eyes, spotted a shadow beneath the desk. He immediately walked over and hauled the person out by his collar. The man had a slender build, a horse-like face, naturally curly hair, and a tiny braid hanging down his forehead. As for his eyes—Du Bin recalled that, much like Ma Jinlong, they protruded outward. Combined with his overall appearance, he looked just like a frog, prompting Du Bin to burst into laughter.

"Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I'll do whatever you ask if it's within my power..." The man immediately dropped to his knees, begging for mercy.

"What's your name?" Du Bin asked.

The man answered in a panic, "Liu Tang."

"Liu Tang, can this black card you're carrying get us to the top floor?" Hu Guozheng asked, sitting on the edge of the desk, somewhat exasperated by the man's cowardly display.

Upon hearing this, Liu Tang turned frantic. Stammering, he said, "I do have a black card that can take us up, but it requires biometric verification from the cardholder. Even if you take it, it's useless."

"Then won't you just have to come up with us?" Du Bin asked, pulling over a nearby chair and sitting down.

"Big brother, please, no! If the boss finds out, I'm a dead man." Liu Tang grabbed Du Bin's clothes, shaking his head continuously like a rattling drum swinging left and right.

"If you don't take us up, you're a dead man right now. Take us up, and we'll protect you." Hu Guozheng hopped down, slung an arm around Liu Tang's shoulder, and flashed a wicked grin.

Liu Tang put on an incredulous expression. "What proof do you have that you can protect me?"

"Did you see that clearly?" Hu Guozheng walked over to the desk and suddenly threw a punch at the corner. With a loud *bang*, half of the desk shattered into pieces. The sight left Liu Tang's mouth hanging open so wide he forgot to close it. He finally agreed, nodding his head as rapidly as drumsticks beating a snare.

They brought Liu Tang to the private elevator. He hesitated for a moment before pulling out the black card and pressing the call button. The elevator doors slid open. Liu Tang placed the black card against the sensor area, and with a soft beep, the identity verification process began. After a retinal scan, he pressed the sole button inside, which was labeled for the 35th floor. Instead of ascending, however, the elevator began to descend. Du Bin and Hu Guozheng looked at him in confusion, while Liu Tang spread his hands in utter bewilderment. "Don't look at me, I have no idea either. This is my first time seeing an elevator go down."

The two men didn't dwell on it. After descending for a brief moment, the elevator stopped. Du Bin and Hu Guozheng pressed themselves against the walls on either side. The doors opened, and Liu Tang stepped out first. Only after confirming the coast was clear did the other two follow. The passageways here were part of an air-raid shelter, branching out in all directions. The lighting system had been modernized, allowing for a smooth, unobstructed path devoid of any surveillance cameras. The three of them ended up wandering blindly through the maze-like terrain like lost children.

"What the hell, how are we supposed to navigate this maze?!" Hu Guozheng complained, his head spinning as he looked down the twisting corridors. Irritated, he pulled out a pack of Marlboros and handed out cigarettes. The three of them squatted down in a corner, puffing away.

"We can't just wander around blindly. Let's leave markers from now on." Du Bin took a deep drag, exhaling with an expression of divine bliss.

With the aid of their markers, they no longer wandered like lost children. Reaching the end of a long corridor, they finally spotted an iron door. It was exceptionally heavy; for an ordinary person, it would take the combined strength of three or four men just to push it open. Yet Hu Guozheng forced the heavy iron door open single-handedly, leaving Liu Tang utterly astonished. Hu Guozheng's superpower was Earth Force, which focused heavily on offense and defense. Back when he was being trained to survive in the Death Arena, the hunting family had primarily taught him defensive techniques. To put it bluntly, he was essentially a human shield.

Stepping inside, they found a vast space stretching endlessly before them. The surrounding walls were made entirely of solid steel, and the interior was overgrown with countless patches of knee-high weeds. The three of them proceeded cautiously through the tall grass. With a sharp creak, the iron door automatically slammed shut behind them. Seeing this, Hu Guozheng bolted back toward it. "Damn it, an electronic door!"

"No choice now. We can only keep moving forward." Realizing there was no retreat, Du Bin led the way. After walking for a hundred meters or so, they finally cleared the patch of weeds, but the sight awaiting them offered little relief: several shattered iron cages lay before them, as though something ferocious had broken free.

A gust of wind swept through, rustling the weeds into a noisy whisper. Du Bin spun around in vigilance, but everything quickly settled back into stillness. "Did you feel that?"

"It felt like something zipped through the grass in a flash," Hu Guozheng said, his expression grim as he braced for a sneak attack.

Another gust of wind brushed past, accompanied by the clatter of a rattling chain. A dark shadow materialized right before them. Before Liu Tang could even react, a searing pain erupted in his chest. He let out a piercing scream as his body was sent flying sideways.

At the sight of this, Du Bin and Hu Guozheng instantly unleashed their powers, but the entity was moving far too quickly, vanishing back into the grass before they could land a hit. Rushing to Liu Tang's side, they found three bloody gashes carved deep into his flesh, exposing gleaming white bone. Liu Tang merely convulsed a few times before drawing his final breath.

"What the hell! A life snuffed out in a split second. What kind of monster is this?!" Hu Guozheng pressed his back against Du Bin's as they scanned their surroundings on high alert. Du Bin quickly gathered several balls of lightning and positioned them at various points to keep the area illuminated.

*Swish, swish, swish.* The grass rustled incessantly. With a metallic clang, a dark shadow lunged directly at one of Du Bin's floating lightning spheres, shattering it upon contact. Du Bin locked his gaze on the darkened spot and unleashed a chain of lightning arcs that used the remaining spheres as stepping stones. The current plunged straight into the grass, triggering a violent explosion that scorched a large patch of weeds.

"Tch, it's fast."

The creature moved with ghostly unpredictability, systematically picking off their lightning spheres. In an instant, the light sources were extinguished, plunging the area into pitch darkness. Only a single lightning sphere remained hovering above their heads, restricting their field of vision to a mere five meters. Reflected in the gloom, a pair of small, glowing red eyes shifted restlessly. Sensing danger, Hu Guozheng swept his hands outward and lifted them slightly. The surrounding earth immediately rose, instantly erecting a wall of soil a yard thick, while Du Bin channeled his electricity directly into the earthen barrier.

The dark shadow closed in and slammed a fist against the dirt wall with a deafening crash, shaking the entire underground shelter to its foundations. The creature merely shook its numb hand, gritting its teeth as it emitted a low, bestial growl. When the duo saw that the shadowy figure stood a full two meters tall, their hair stood on end in sheer terror.

"What on earth is that?" Du Bin gathered lightning balls in both hands and hurled them at their opponent. Bathed in the electric glare, the massive dark shadow was finally revealed: it had the head of a wolf and the body of a beast, glaring at the two men with furious eyes as it let out a wild howl. Hu Guozheng stammering in disbelief, "Holy shit, a werewolf?"

The werewolf charged at them in a frenzy, its vicious claws slashing downward. Hu Guozheng hastily raised a wall of earth to deflect the blow, absorbing the brutal impact and coughing up a mouthful of fresh blood. Seizing the opening, Du Bin surged forward with fists crackling with electrical energy, pummeling the werewolf with a barrage of blows. Every punch carried an electrostatic charge that paralyzed its entire body.

"Die!" Putting every ounce of his strength into one final blow, Du Bin drove his fist forward. The concentrated bio-electricity detonated instantly, triggering a chain of explosions. The werewolf's chest caved inward, and its massive body was blasted backward for dozens of feet before coming to a halt. It stared coldly at Du Bin. The strike had hurt it deeply, and wolves were notoriously vindictive creatures—even if the creature before them happened to be a werewolf, it was no exception.

Du Bin was somewhat taken aback. The werewolf's defenses were ridiculously overpowered. While he considered himself a mid-tier esper at best, dealing with mutated freaks should have been well within his capabilities. He hadn't expected to inflict only minor injuries. "I hit it with that many punches, and it's still fine?"

"Fatty, can you use your Seismic Heart-Splitting Slash?"

Hu Guozheng looked back with a helpless expression. "I didn't bring the Azure Dragon Blade, so its power is halved."

"We'll just have to fight for our lives," Du Bin said, once again gathering lightning energy in his hands.
