Chapter 110: Kagura's Journey
The crisis in Guangzhou had come to a temporary end. Our gaze shifts to Kagura Nakajima, who had transformed into a dark force. After basking in the sunlight above Guangzhou, her eyes began to emit faint red glows. A crackling sound emanated from before her, and as the gravity intensified, it slowly twisted to form a black, swirling vortex. Kagura stepped directly into the void. When she emerged on the other side, she was already high above the city of Zhuhai. Surveying the bustling coastal city, she chose a spot to descend. To avoid drawing attention, she landed on the rooftop of a high-rise building near the Seaside Park and took the elevator down to the street.
Looking at the crowded beach, tourists were having the time of their lives, and several jet skis circled in the shallows. Just as she intended to continue walking toward Lovers Road, a boy bumped into her. Kagura rubbed her head, feeling a hint of annoyance.
"Little sister, are you alright?" The boy was young and wore an apologetic expression.
"I'm fine," Kagura replied, shaking her head impatiently.
The boy looked a bit awkward and was about to say something when a girl’s voice called out from behind: "Jia, hurry up!"
"Coming!" The boy, whose full name was Zeng Jia, quickly ran toward the girl. Seeing her in a bikini, he was quite excited: "Weiqing, let's go!"
The two sprinted toward the ocean and dove into the waves with a splash. A boy nearby, who had been splashed in the face, said unhappily, "Seriously, Lao Zeng? Is it really necessary? You're just going for a swim with Weiqing, look at you."
"Chen Jingfeng, if you don't talk, nobody will think you're mute." Zeng Jia cupped his hands to splash water back at Chen Jingfeng, who retaliated without hesitation. Watching the two young men play, Zhao Weiqing giggled.
A sullen Kagura walked along Lovers Road until she reached the railing in front of the Fisher Girl. A giant stone statue of the Zhuhai Fisher Girl stood there; she wore a necklace of pearls, carried a fishing net on her shoulder, her trousers slightly rolled up, and she held a brilliant, crystal-clear pearl high above her head with both hands. With a joyful yet shy expression, she heralded light to the world and offered her treasure to humanity.
She hailed a taxi to Gongbei, a district bustling with crowds due to its proximity to Macau. Wandering alone until evening, she found herself at a bar street. Almost every bar was packed. Kagura picked one at random. Even before entering, she could hear the booming of DJ music. She seemed slightly uncomfortable with the sound, yet curiosity drew her inside. Waiters were busy attending to guests, and in the center of the hall, a boy was wearing headphones, operating a DJ deck and layering sound effects to hype up the crowd. Kagura found a seat, and after a waiter introduced the beers, she ordered one and began to sway to the atmosphere.
After a glass of beer, she felt it wasn't quite enough. Having just undergone a personality shift, Kagura was curious about many things. A few drinks in, her cheeks turned slightly red. Suddenly, a few young men walked over and sat directly across from her, which struck her as strange.
"Hey, little beauty, so bored all by yourself? Want us brothers to keep you company?" one of them greeted her.
Seeing them scrutinizing her with lecherous gazes, she couldn't help but feel angry: "Not interested."
"Don't be like that. Let's just get to know each other, be friends." The man in the middle spoke, and the others chimed in. He then sat down beside her and poured her a beer, dropping a pill into the glass when she wasn't looking: "Come on, let's have a toast."
"Could you please stop bothering me?" Kagura stared at him with icy eyes. The man felt a bit embarrassed, but seeing she wouldn't play along, he shamelessly persisted: "Just one drink."
"After I finish this drink, get as far away from me as possible." Kagura picked up the glass, ready to drink, and the man flashed a sinister smile.
"Wait." A voice rang out. Zeng Jia suddenly appeared and stopped her from drinking. Seeing it was the boy she had met earlier, she asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
"This drink has been drugged," Zeng Jia whispered to her, then pulled her toward the exit. The men behind them were displeased; having caught their prey, they weren't about to let go easily, and they surrounded them.
"Brother, it's not very kind of you to ruin someone else's fun, is it?" The man reached out to block his path.
Zeng Jia smiled derisively: "Fun? I think it's more like a crime. You grown men using such sleazy tactics on a young girl."
"Even so, it's none of your business!" The man was furious at his smile. Kagura understood the situation now, her eyes filled with rage. Just as she was about to use her powers to teach them a lesson, two more people arrived.
"What's going on, Lao Zeng?" Chen Jingfeng noticed the confrontation and came over with Zhao Weiqing to see what was happening. After Zeng Jia explained the situation, Chen Jingfeng also wore an angry expression.
Zeng Jia pushed Kagura toward Zhao Weiqing: "Xiao Qing, look after her."
Zhao Weiqing said, "Oh," and looked at the little girl with a strange feeling. Perhaps because she felt a sense of uniqueness about her, Kagura suddenly put on a fearful expression: "Big sister, I'm so scared."
"It's okay, it's okay. Those two big brothers will handle it. What's your name, little sister?" Seeing her act like a normal child, Zhao Weiqing didn't think too much of it and introduced herself kindly.
It wasn't convenient to reveal her true identity, so she blinked her eyes innocently: "Sister Xiao Qing, my name is Zhong Zhiying. You can just call me Yingying."
Seeing the tension escalating, the bar manager immediately brought his bouncers over to intervene. He walked up to Chen Jingfeng respectfully and said, "Brother Feng, are you alright?"
"I'm fine. They drugged my friend," Chen Jingfeng said, pointing at the men. The manager understood immediately and asked, "Do you want me to teach them a lesson?"
"Sure, just give them a little lesson will do," Chen Jingfeng didn't want to make too big of a scene, as it wouldn't look good for Mr. Liang. He gave Zeng Jia a look and left the bar with Zhong Zhiying. The manager immediately ordered the bouncers to drag the men into the back alley for a "chat."
In their eyes, Mr. Liang was one of the wealthiest tycoons in Zhuhai, having started out in smuggling during the early reform period, with his influence spread across half of Xiangzhou. Chen Jingfeng was someone Mr. Liang valued highly, which was why so many people sought to associate with him. As for Zeng Jia, he was a student currently between jobs, and Zhao Weiqing was his schoolmate.
After the four left the bar, Chen Jingfeng went to get his car. Zeng Jia looked at the eccentric Zhong Zhiying and said, "Yingying, where do you live? We'll drop you off."
"I'm just here for a trip, and I don't have a place to stay yet. Why don't you take me in, big brother?" Zhong Zhiying grinned. Her innocent and romantic expression made it impossible to associate her with the person who had killed so many in Guangzhou just moments ago.
Zhao Weiqing originally felt it was a bit inappropriate, as Zhong Zhiying was a girl; if she hadn't been so young, she would have objected. Zeng Jia, on the other hand, was a bit embarrassed, as his place was a mess: "How about this? I'll help you book a room at a hotel."
"Alright! I'm new here and don't know anyone, so I'll need big brother and big sister to keep me company. I'll be counting on you these next few days," Zhong Zhiying said, very happy that they had agreed.
Chen Jingfeng soon drove over and took them to drop Zhao Weiqing off at her campus dormitory before helping Zhong Zhiying check into a hotel. The two men then returned to their rented apartment.
Zhong Zhiying sat on the bed and snapped her fingers casually. A masked female ninja suddenly appeared in the empty room. Kneeling, she said, "Lady Kagura, what are your orders for your subordinate?"
"I don't want anyone to disturb my date with Big Brother tomorrow. Go take care of it."
"Yes." The ninja vanished as soon as she spoke, as if she had never been there at all.
Zhong Zhiying then undressed and headed to the bathroom. After a pleasant shower, she wrapped herself in a towel and lay comfortably on the soft bed. She found this boy named Zeng Jia quite amusing and looked forward to tomorrow with great anticipation.
