Wu Qiwei saw an opportunity and sent his sword flying toward Ye Lan. Ye Tang sensed his move and blocked it first. Just as Ye Tang was defending against the sword, a formation appeared beside her, trapping her in place.

“This…” Ye Tang was shocked. Within this formation, she found herself completely immobilized.

“Originally, this formation had no effect on humans, but since you’re a vampire, it’s a different matter. The formation’s power has been amplified several times over. You should understand why,” Wu Qiwei said with a triumphant grin as he watched Ye Tang trapped within the seal. Electric energy balanced against electric energy locked her entire body. Although Ye Tang knew about this formation, she lacked the ability to break its curse.

Wu Qiwei chuckled as he approached her and said, “Your mind is still too naive.”

“Despicable. I never expected you to trap me with a formation,” Ye Tang struggled, but the powerful electricity held her fast. She hadn’t even noticed Wu Qiwei stealthily activating the formation all around.

“Come on, give me your power,” Wu Qiwei urged, surrounded by shadows. He lifted a sword and pressed it against her shoulder. “Do you know what it means to give?”

“Give? Don’t joke with me. Even if you kill me, my power will vanish with my death. You’ll never have it.”

“Is that so? We won’t know until we try.” Wu Qiwei slashed his sword toward Ye Tang’s heart. “If I dared let you grow strong, it’s because I’m confident I control your life and death.”

Just as the sword was about to strike, several forces surged at him from below. Wu Qiwei easily dispatched these powers. When he reached out to seize Ye Tang’s spiritual energy to steal her power, a force repelled him. The power rejected him. Wu Qiwei exclaimed in disbelief, “Why? This power actually rejects my approach?”

“Don’t you understand? This power doesn’t belong to you. You’ll never have it in this lifetime.”

Wu Qiwei was stunned. He found it hard to believe. Her power was sealed, yet it stubbornly blocked his approach. Could it be that he would never obtain this power? The thought was laughable to him.

“Give up. This kind of power is simply not for you.”

“Is that so?” Wu Qiwei’s sharp gaze fixed on her. His sinister smile made Ye Tang uneasy. She knew Wu Qiwei was not one to give up easily when it came to taking her power.

“If that’s the case, even if I can’t have this power, I won’t let it exist in this world to threaten me.” Wu Qiwei merged with the shadow, unleashing a howling blue energy. This power, transformed by the Reaper, roared within his sword’s aura. Feeling this immense force coming at her, Ye Tang struggled hard. She sensed Wu Qiwei’s sword qi was heavy and dark—not just from his own abilities, but from the shadowy, evil-emanating dark sword itself.

The sword descended from above, two powers clashing fiercely.

“Hmph. You’re already sealed by me. Your flame barrier can’t withstand this. Your life is always in my hands.”

“My life is mine to control,” Ye Tang declared.

With a roar, the power intensified, continuously radiating from the sword. The dark energy seemed to surround Ye Tang’s fiery shield, which soon shattered under the pressure. In the dim haze, Wu Qiwei appeared as a shadowy phantom, his laughter cunning.

“Should I kill you or not? If your mother revives and finds out I killed you, I’ll be in trouble.”

“Madman! You’re only so stubborn because you lost to my father and seek vengeance for your wife. You don’t know love, so everything you do is extreme. Love isn’t one-sided. You don’t truly understand her. Your love is just an excuse to crave power. True love doesn’t mean possessing someone.”

Wu Qiwei pressed his sword to Ye Tang’s neck, angry. “Enough from you. What do you know about love? You’re just an inexperienced girl. You’ve never even tried love; you don’t understand it. I don’t need lessons from you.”

“I grew up without parents and don’t know how to love someone, but I understand how to handle myself better than you. Yet you project your hatred onto everyone else. You’re even more pitiful than I am.”

Wu Qiwei scoffed at her. Ridiculous to be lectured by a girl—especially one’s daughter.

“Seems like you’ve experienced love, but you don’t understand human nature. People always keep chasing, constantly desiring, and eventually become greedy, ignorant, and even more shameful beings.”

“I don’t know if that’s true, but the feelings I have for him aren’t just about possession. They come from mutual trust.”

“You mean him? That reckless boy who risked everything to save you?” Wu Qiwei glanced disdainfully at Du Bin. “He’s human, and the distance between you two…”

Ye Tang understood his implication. She had hesitated at first, but her parents’ love taught her that race was no barrier, especially since she was half human.

“Don’t joke with me.” Wu Qiwei swung his sword fiercely toward Ye Tang’s head. At that moment, a figure emerged from the ruined building, radiating a cold energy.

Wu Qiwei immediately stopped and turned, eyes narrowing as he faced the approaching frost. The attacker was none other than his disciple, YOYO.

“YOYO, what are you doing? Are you betraying me? You should know how much power you have—I’m your master, I know that well.”

She ignored him and continued to unleash the cold energy. Wu Qiwei summoned the eight Shadow Swords and charged forward. YOYO dodged and counterattacked, but one spinning sword grazed her arm, releasing venom that spread quickly. YOYO, however, had some method to neutralize the poison and soon cleared it.

“Hmph, since you choose betrayal, death is your only option.”

“Even if you didn’t stab me just now, I have acted according to my conscience. Her life can only be taken by me.”

Wu Qiwei had been arrogant, but hearing YOYO’s words, his face suddenly changed. As he turned, Ye Tang broke free from the formation’s seal and summoned a red blade, slashing fiercely at Wu Qiwei. Seizing this moment of distraction, Ye Tang found a gap and broke through the sealing formation, much to Wu Qiwei’s frustration.

With a spray of blood, Ye Tang severed an arm wielding a sword. Wu Qiwei clutched his right hand, his face contorted with pain. Sweat poured down as he gritted his teeth and glared furiously at Ye Tang. Seeing her attack again, his expression grew serious.

“You think yourself a god, yet you say humans are selfish and greedy. But as one who sees through all this, you are just as selfish and greedy.”

As Ye Tang’s sword came down, the eight Shadow Swords suddenly blocked it, bouncing her away.

“When a person’s life loses its value, the lost soul becomes mad and violent, never understanding its own worth. All that remains is a wandering shell in this world.”

Ye Tang quietly replied, “Are you saying you’ve lost your value? Someone without value is like one without life. Since you have no life, why do you still wander the world? You shouldn’t exist. So…”

“Whether I should or shouldn’t isn’t for you to decide.” Wu Qiwei spread his wings and retreated. Seeing Ye Tang’s flying speed suddenly quicken, a long afterimage streaked through the air. She appeared instantly before Wu Qiwei. With precise control over the Shadow Swords, they spun and attacked Ye Tang. The swords moved at varying speeds; one sword cut through a newly formed shadow sword.

“No matter how many times you cut them, it’s useless. The swords keep regenerating.”

“You’re right. The swords can regrow, but humans can never regenerate.”

Ye Tang quickly closed in on Wu Qiwei, who struggled to retreat. Suddenly, Ye Tang’s afterimages surrounded him, circling repeatedly. It made him dizzy.

“This crazy girl’s speed is unbelievably fast.”
