Chapter 37: Article One of the Intergalactic Peace Accord
“The third class of people—I'm sure you all understand this without my explanation—will become the cheapest labor force in this apocalypse. Still, they have their use: to provide the power of faith.”
“From now on, I want every ordinary person to respect the heroes and revere them as gods.”
“Because only by becoming gods can we bring this apocalypse to an end. And the first article of the Universal Peace Treaty states: any intelligent civilization with the existence of gods cannot be invaded.”
A shudder ran through everyone present as they heard Qin Hao’s words.
It was as if a unique force of law had spread through the air—a fundamental truth.
“Among the four heroes here, the most likely to become a god is not me, nor An Ziheng or Li Lixin, but Zihui. She possesses a unique gift: she can absorb your faith. I know many of you were her fans before. From today on, you should worship her. It is you who will elevate her to the altar.”
Some present already showed fervor in their eyes—Zihui’s fans.
With Qin Hao’s words, these people became fanatics in an instant.
Zihui herself, however, was a little bewildered.
After all, stars and idols are created through packaging—layers of foundation, carefully styled looks, beloved songs, and a unique stage presence. Once you encounter them in daily life, after frequent contact, the aura often fades.
Yet now, Qin Hao had bestowed a new aura upon Zihui.
Especially now that her body was enhanced, her skin as delicate as an infant’s, draped in divine armor, wielding godly power—why shouldn’t she continue to be revered?
She could.
The original plan in Zihui’s mind was overturned, and a new one began to form.
At that moment, Qin Hao once again used metal to carve words on the wall, side by side with the hero system.
God
Ninth-level Evolver
Eighth-level Evolver
Seventh-level Evolver
All the way down to the first-level Evolver.
At the same time, another row of words appeared:
Ninth-level Gene Lock—Power of Thought, Power of the Flesh.
“The Star Energy Body Refining Technique merely allows you to sense the energy of the stars, to absorb the star power from the universe or from star energy crystals. When you reach the limit, a barrier will appear, preventing further progress. Breaking through this barrier means shattering your gene lock and stepping into the ranks of first-level Evolvers.”
“Everyone has their own gene lock. Breaking through it is extremely painful; how many you can break in the future will determine what class of person you will become.”
“If a human god appears, driving the extraterrestrials from Blue Star, even then, we cannot return to life before the apocalypse. In the future, everyone will be a warrior, and social hierarchy will be clear at a glance.”
“If there are no gods, strength will be the sole currency for survival. The weak will inevitably be eliminated.”
Qin Hao’s words made everyone feel their hearts contract under unbearable pressure.
Hearing this, the reality seemed unbearably cruel.
“I’ll end my speech here. You may continue your meeting. I’m going out to hunt alien beasts.” Qin Hao headed for the exit, then paused and added, “Remember, do not use any light. The Fang Demon and Serpent Demon are extremely sensitive to light sources—it will trigger a beast tide.”
An Ziheng’s expression changed.
After all, last night he had used fire in the residential compound, and the people staying at his home—would they use fire again tonight?
If they did, wouldn’t that seal their fate?
No matter what An Ziheng thought, Qin Hao had already left. No one tried to stop him; in fact, their respect for him only deepened.
Qin Hao seemed ever more powerful and mysterious in their eyes.
Zihui stood before the wall, looking at the two hundred people gathered, and then announced, “From today on, the four heroes will be entities set apart from, yet above, the Sky Dome Base.”
“The position of base chief will be held by my manager, Li Lan.”
Li Lan rose to her feet.
She was thirty-four, still single—a model of the strong, capable woman. Her abilities were extraordinary.
Li Lan admired Zihui. Even when the company threatened to blacklist her, she withstood immense pressure and even considered taking Zihui to another agency.
She had always seen the potential for stardom in Zihui.
Li Lan was also the first person Zihui performed the Star Energy Body Refining Technique on, and that concert had been her handiwork alone.
Now, with Zihui giving her the position of base chief, her gamble had paid off.
Li Lan stepped forward and began assigning tasks, compiling everyone’s former occupations and the talents or powers they had gained as Evolvers.
She was indeed suited to leadership.
Meanwhile, Qin Hao was walking the streets, slaying every Fang Demon he encountered with ruthless efficiency.
He made his way to the base of the Pearl Tower.
This was the television tower of the metropolis—already one of the nation’s most famous landmarks, and the tallest building in the country, standing at five hundred meters.
Qin Hao unleashed his metal ability, climbing up the side of the Pearl Tower, ascending step by step until he reached the very top.
The summer night breeze swept past, but there was no way to enjoy the city’s dazzling night view from here.
From his dimensional ring, Qin Hao retrieved a beautifully wrapped box, pulled out the fuse, and took out a match.
The match struck—ssst!—and a tiny flame flickered to life, touching the fuse and igniting it.
In the glow, it became clear that the box was a set of fireworks.
Qin Hao stepped back as the fuse burned down. A sharp whistle pierced the night.
With a bang, a magnificent firework burst into the sky.
Countless people saw the blaze rise high above, their faces filled with disbelief.
Who?
Who dared to set off fireworks here?
In the darkness, the fireworks blazed with shocking brilliance.
Fang Demons, Serpent Demons, even the Toxic Demon Spiders and all the alien creatures that prowled and hunted in the night suddenly halted, and began swarming toward the source.
Each bloom of fireworks was like a beacon, guiding the monsters on their way.
From the top of Sky Dome Tower, the light was visible at a glance. Those who had just heard Qin Hao’s warning about the aliens’ sensitivity to light never expected that, moments later, someone would be lighting fireworks atop the Pearl Tower.
“Who is that? Do they have a death wish?”
The thought flashed through everyone’s mind.
But when Zihui saw this, her heart stirred.
She took out a sphere—the Divine Item, Eye of All Sects.
Infusing it with star energy, the Eye split in two; one half flew out, locking onto the direction of the Pearl Tower.
The Eye of All Sects acted like a wireless magnifying glass, focusing on the sky above the Pearl Tower.
The other half projected a beam of light, casting an image into the air.
The projection showed the Pearl Tower, ablaze with fireworks.
And atop the tower, they saw a man.
It was Qin Hao.
