Chapter 21: A Familiar Apocalypse
"Mr. Qin," Lei Yunzhou followed behind, his face pale and weak.
"Do you want something to eat?" Qin Hao asked.
"No, I can't stomach it."
Lei Yunzhou, accustomed to a pampered life and poor habits, truly couldn't eat anything so early in the morning. In countless years to come, he would regret wasting even a single meal.
Qin Hao finished breakfast quickly, then packed every dish in the restaurant into his spatial ring. The guests on the first floor had already fled, so Qin Hao went unceremoniously into the kitchen and transferred four large refrigerators into his ring.
Perhaps at the dawn of the apocalypse, food was not yet scarce, but a year later, humanity would be so desperate for sustenance that some would begin to devour their companions. Only after three years, when most humans became third-level Evolvers, did this situation change.
Whether in the past or now, Qin Hao had never worried about food; he simply couldn't bear to see such waste.
The people in the hotel likely dared not come down from the upper floors. With monsters invading, and the Fang Demons unable to climb high yet, the upper levels were the safest refuge.
After tidying up, Qin Hao prepared to leave.
"Mr. Qin, it's dangerous outside," Lei Yunzhou said anxiously, seeing Qin Hao's intention to depart.
Lei Yunzhou wanted Qin Hao to protect him, but looking at the world now, what reason did such a strong man have to stay? Money? But in this broken world, wealth had become nothing but worthless paper.
The thought chilled Lei Yunzhou even more.
"For me, it's all opportunity," Qin Hao replied, gazing at the chaotic world beyond.
"But..."
"You can stay here. It's very safe, and your body is much stronger than most. You could actually fight the Fang Demons."
"Fang Demons? Those monsters?" Lei Yunzhou's legs trembled.
Qin Hao found his fear amusing.
So eager to learn before, but now, when faced with real combat, his face had turned pale.
Such a pampered heir, better to wait for rescue.
"Go to a higher floor. With your current strength, you're already stronger than most humans."
Qin Hao took ten Star Energy Crystals from his spatial ring and handed Lei Yunzhou some hard bread, easy to preserve.
After all, Lei Yunzhou had helped him; without him, Qin Hao's foundational attributes wouldn't be so strong.
Then Qin Hao turned his gaze to the elevator.
He approached, raised his hand, and the surrounding metal twisted together, forming a long spear.
Qin Hao pried open the elevator doors, revealing a bloody scene inside.
Three people were trapped; only one adult man had survived, the others had fallen to their deaths.
When the man looked at Qin Hao, his eyes were filled with gratitude.
[Ding...]
The system notification sounded. Qin Hao had completed another rescue mission, earning one hundred Hero Points for gratitude.
But with no witnesses and no attention drawn, only two hundred Hero Points were obtained.
After the first catastrophe, stirring up a sensation online to earn Hero Points no longer worked.
Qin Hao had no intention of saving further; after opening the elevator, he headed outside.
The injured man struggled to speak, "Please, call an ambulance for me. I have money."
Anyone staying in a five-star hotel would have money.
But he didn’t know that after the elevator fell, the world had changed.
Qin Hao stepped onto the street.
The city was in chaos, filled with fire, explosions, and screams.
Dark spatial holes appeared everywhere, from which Fang Demons emerged, tearing apart humans.
Even th
