Chapter 105: I Am the Type of Person Who Detests Internal Strife Most of All
“Why can’t I?”
The auditorium doors burst open as Qin Hao strode in.
At this moment, he made no effort to conceal his presence. The aura of a third-tier evolved thinker enveloped the entire hall, his mental tendrils sprawling upward to the ceiling, giving him an almost demonic human appearance that stunned everyone present.
Mental tendrils are the clearest indicator of a person’s strength. None of those gathered had ever seen Qin Hao’s psychic power before, and when compared to their own, theirs seemed infinitesimal.
Qin Hao had broken through two limits—these others had mostly enhanced their abilities with drugs from the hero system.
They could hardly fathom just how powerful Qin Hao truly was.
When Qin Hao’s gaze met theirs, a mere glance sent chills down their spines, and they felt too guilty to hold his eyes any longer.
The man who had spoken earlier froze in place, his face twitching as he tried to figure out how to respond.
Qin Hao’s icy eyes swept over him. “Explain why it’s not possible.”
The man swallowed hard but still tried to argue his point.
“Mr. Qin, there must be principles in doing things. Originally, Ling Bo said he would focus on firearms, gathering metal-element psychics from major bases to establish a production line. In the end, he exchanged guns with us for star energy crystals.”
“That means using our people to manufacture goods, then selling those weapons back to us. Qingbei University is just his base of operations. I agree to the production line there, but a survivor base? Will he still sell us weapons after that?”
More importantly, if he stops selling weapons to us, Ling Bo’s arsenal will only grow, and he could end up dominating all of Kyoto.
At that moment, Ling Bo spoke up: “Chen Shichang, I think you’ve misunderstood. I don’t need your approval to establish the Qingbei base. What I’m discussing with you now is simply the future plan for gathering major bases.”
“Ling Bo, don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. This gathering plan, concentrating all the bases around Qingbei—are you waiting to swallow them up?”
Everyone else shuddered and glanced at Ling Bo with suspicion.
Qin Hao chuckled lightly.
That laugh instantly drew the attention of everyone present onto him.
He was a man impossible to ignore.
“So what do you suggest?” Qin Hao asked.
---
Chen Shichang, hearing Qin Hao’s words, assumed that despite Qin Hao’s formidable power, he lacked subtlety. He quickly responded, “I understand Ling Bo’s plan. He purchased a light-energy generator that can fend off zombies. For ordinary people not to be infected, it’s natural to stay close to the generator. But didn’t you see the beast tide yesterday? Ling Bo didn’t explicitly send us to our deaths, but at the very least he asked us to protect the generator. That means we must sacrifice manpower, even lives. He needs to keep supplying us weapons, and the prices should be halved. Also, the zombie antidotes must be provided for free.”
One by one, the others nodded in agreement.
But Qin Hao chuckled again.
“Did you know I killed Wu Qiong from the Yanbei base yesterday?”
When Qin Hao said this, a chill swept through the crowd, a bad premonition settling in their hearts.
Of course, they all knew about this event.
“Did anyone from the Wu family of Yanbei base come today?”
Obviously, Yanbei base did not dare to show up.
Now, a second-tier evolved thinker like Qin Hao was the leader of a base. Yanbei might be large, but true strength within was scarce, and Wu Qiong was a mere weakling.
Even if there were capable people, how could they possibly match Qin Hao?
“No one came? Fine, I’ll take over that base then. The leader is dead; survivors need a new leader. Let me see how many bases here I can take over. You, the spokesperson for the Chen family, how strong are you within your base? If I kill you, can I take over your base as well?”
Cold sweat instantly poured from Chen Shichang’s forehead.
“Qin Hao, don’t forget, you’re a hero, you must protect humanity. You can’t kill innocents indiscriminately.”
“Then why did you all attack Ling Bo? Why is it okay for you to kill him but not for me to kill you? Don’t be so hypocritical. I’m going to team up with Ling Bo to establish the Qingbei base. Do you agree? If not...”
A murderous glint flashed in Qin Hao’s eyes.
Chen Shichang dared not disagree.
“Mr. Qin, I agree. I agree.”
Qin Hao looked around at the others.
“I agree.”
“Agreed.”
“I’ve always agreed. Ling Bo is strong and deserves his own base.”
---
Everyone consented.
Only then did Qin Hao’s killing intent subside.
He narrowed his eyes and said, “I’m not unreasonable. You claim the metal-element psychics are yours? Then let them decide for themselves whether to stay or leave.”
The faces of the prominent families darkened again.
If those people could be taken away, how could they just stand by?
Ling Bo had initially only visited their bases, selecting a few who showed talent and communicating with them, then making deals with others. In the end, whether those psychics still recognized them was uncertain.
Before the apocalypse, personal freedom was valued; now it was even more so.
“Now, about the gathering of bases. You should know the ‘Survival’ mission has been updated. For humanity, this is both a crisis and an opportunity. At least, when a hero stays among the crowds, it won’t trigger a massive beast tide. Every hero, when facing the ‘Survival’ mission, will encounter a fixed number of hunting creatures. The more people gathered, the stronger the force. If bases gather and systematically eliminate these hunters in one place, we can create a safe zone.”
Just like the zone in Modo where Qin Hao and others had established to hunt the Flame Demons.
In this fixed area, the hunting creatures quickly diminished, and the spatial black hole kept appearing there.
This greatly improved the survivors’ chances within the city.
Ling Bo’s idea was sound, but the representatives of the major bases were all thinking of their own interests and hesitated to agree outright.
Now, under Qin Hao’s forceful intimidation, they had no choice but to consent.
Qin Hao could not simply kill them all.
He alone could not manage so many bases; their existence was necessary to ensure more humans survived.
“I hope that after you gather, you can live in peace. I dislike internal strife above all.”
Though Qin Hao spoke of peace, the murderous aura on him flared again.
It seemed that if these people failed to coexist peacefully, Qin Hao would enforce peace by even more ruthless means.
