Chapter Thirty-Nine: Sweet Love Villa
What’s wrong with using an iPhone? So the rich are allowed to drive sports cars, but the poor can’t use Apple products? What kind of logic is that? This is a classic case of begrudging the poor even a bowl of rice soup! Although Bing Shaohui’s entire body ached, he couldn’t help but grumble inwardly.
He wasn’t stupid; he quickly realized that Xiao Cheng probably didn’t mean that, but rather found it odd that two sanitation workers both used phones worth over ten thousand yuan. But what did having an expensive phone prove? It had nothing to do with installing that box in the sewer.
And another thing—how did Xiao Cheng know the phone was gold-plated? Did he have x-ray vision?
“How did you know what kind of phones we use? And how did you connect that to all this?” Bing Shaohui asked in confusion.
“You only need to know that I know these things. As for how I found out, you’re not qualified to ask. Now tell me, who sent you to do this?” Xiao Cheng had no interest in answering their questions.
“We haven’t done anything. We were just installing a box in the sewer, that’s all,” Bing Shaohui tried to play dumb. After all, they hadn’t actually committed the act yet—how could this guy have guessed something that hadn’t even happened? He wasn’t a fortune teller!
“Hmph!” Xiao Cheng let out a cold laugh. “There’s no point hiding anything now. Who sent you to set up that trap for the owner of the Maserati?”
What? He even knows that? Bing Shaohui could hardly believe his ears. That was impossible! The box was something he and his partner had come up with; the person who hired them to target the Maserati owner didn’t even know about it. So how did Xiao Cheng know?
Knowing one thing might be a coincidence, but this young man seemed to know everything—how could that be? Was he born with divine insight? There was simply no other explanation.
Of course, Bing Shaohui couldn’t imagine that Xiao Cheng knew all this because he was aware of the future. If he hadn’t known his sister-in-law would be in a car accident, he wouldn’t have guessed any of this.
Bing Shaohui’s face shifted several times. He realized the young man before him was not someone he could judge by common sense—he was far beyond his understanding. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally decided to confess everything.
“All right, I’ll talk.”
“Wait.” Seeing Bing Shaohui about to confess, Xiao Cheng interrupted him, knocked out the other man with a swift motion, and said, “Now you can speak.” This way, he could question the other man later and prevent them from corroborating their stories.
Bing Shaohui glanced at his unconscious companion, feeling a chill in his heart. This young man was indeed cunning—there was no way to lie now.
“Master, here’s how it happened: ten days ago, a man named Yuan Xinghan approached us. He wanted us to quietly take out the owner of that Maserati—no trace, make it look like an accident. So…”
Bing Shaohui laid out the whole story, and when he finished, he saw Xiao Cheng’s expression remained unchanged and felt a slight relief.
It was simple: ten days ago, a man named Yuan Xinghan had hired the two brothers to commit murder, so they devised a plan to use aqua regia to destroy the car’s brake system. Xiao Cheng nodded—the confession was reasonable, and there was no flaw to be found.
But who was Yuan Xinghan? Why target his sister-in-law?
“Who is Yuan Xinghan?” Xiao Cheng asked.
This didn’t fit his original theory. He had suspected his fourth uncle, Xiao Guowei, but hadn’t expected a name he’d never heard of.
“We didn’t know him before—we only met ten days ago,” Bing Shaohui replied, sneaking a glance at Xiao Cheng and noticing his displeasure. He quickly added, “But, because jobs like this are risky, we followed him once and found out where he lives.”
Xiao Cheng nodded, his mood finally improving. This was the most important information he’d received so far. Seeing Bing Shaohui’s hopeful look, he guessed that the man wanted to use this as leverage to bargain for his life. But since he’d dared to harm Yuer, Xiao Cheng had no intention of showing mercy.
He could have made a promise and killed him after getting the information, but he didn’t bother. It wasn’t that he couldn’t—it was that he disdained it.
“Talk, or you’ll die a painful death,” Xiao Cheng said coldly.
“You!” Bing Shaohui had hoped this information would at least buy him a chance to live, but Xiao Cheng refused outright. If he was doomed either way, why say anything?
Xiao Cheng smiled faintly, not interested in bargaining. He simply stepped down and crushed all five of Bing Shaohui’s fingers into pulp.
The pain was excruciating—enough to break any man. Bing Shaohui screamed, then gritted his teeth, acting as though he would die before talking.
Xiao Cheng was in no rush. He broke Bing Shaohui’s shin with another stomp, then his thigh bone, and was about to go higher when Bing Shaohui finally broke.
“I’ll talk! Just make it quick afterward.”
By now, Bing Shaohui was deathly pale, cursing inwardly. How could such a monster exist? This young man tortured people without even blinking, cold-blooded beyond belief. Was he really only about twenty years old?
Xiao Cheng didn’t enjoy torturing others, but sometimes certain methods were necessary. Seeing Bing Shaohui finally relent, he felt a measure of relief.
He truly didn’t understand—if saying it earlier would have spared him so much pain, why persist in playing the tough guy, only to confess in the end anyway?
“Sweet Love Villas, Villa T-75. That’s where he lives,” Bing Shaohui gasped before finally passing out from the pain.
Xiao Cheng glanced at him, then kicked the other man awake. Compared to Bing Shaohui, this one was much easier to handle—after a few questions, he confessed, and his story matched perfectly.
Xiao Cheng left the abandoned factory at once, retrieving the box the two men had planted along the way.
Opening the box, he found a bottle of aqua regia. This solution was so corrosive it could dissolve even inert gold, let alone ordinary steel.
A chill ran through Xiao Cheng—if he hadn’t intervened, the consequences would have been disastrous.
In his previous life, the brake failure that caused his sister-in-law’s accident must have been because of aqua regia. She’d been relatively lucky last time, but who could say what would happen if it happened again? The future was never certain.
Sweet Love Villas was not far from the abandoned factory—just over twenty kilometers away. In less than twenty minutes, Xiao Cheng was standing at the entrance.
He was determined to find out who this Yuan Xinghan was and what motive he had to harm Yuer.
