Chapter 22: A Man Must Never Admit Defeat
“Haha~” Lin Xian smiled faintly, thoroughly enjoying herself. “Young master, your words are as sweet as if you’ve tasted countless blossoms of honey.”
Qin Lang gently shook his head, folding his fan with a smile. “My words are only sweet because you, Sister Immortal, are so beautiful. If it weren’t for your beauty, my tongue would hardly be so honeyed.”
If one were to rank the qualities of a scoundrel, the first would be a sweet tongue—especially words that charm and touch a woman’s heart. Second, deeds must follow words.
As a seasoned lover, his words could stir maidens and married women alike. Even his flattery was renowned!
Hua Manlou, standing nearby, listened in stunned silence, his heart shocked and his mind blank. Lin Xian was equally surprised, her mouth agape as she stared at Qin Lang.
Lin Xian went off to find beautiful ladies for them, while Hua Manlou led Qin Lang into the depths of Misty Rain Pavilion. Their ears were filled with melodious music, and their eyes delighted in the graceful women dancing by the flower pool, each one lovely and alluring.
Finding a secluded spot, Hua Manlou gave a mischievous smile, glancing meaningfully at Qin Lang. “Brother Qin, what do you think? Is Misty Rain Pavilion the kind of place you were hoping for?”
Qin Lang looked around, admiring the passing beauties. His eyes glittered with excitement. “It’s simply wonderful.”
This place was so open—exactly the kind of place he wanted. Women accompanied men for drinks, men’s hands wandered freely… It was paradise on earth!
He wished he could stay here every day, indulging in wine and women, yearning for deeper connections with these ladies. Rumor had it there were rooms upstairs for more intimate encounters.
“Hahaha~” Hua Manlou laughed heartily, clearly satisfied. “As long as you’re happy, brother.”
“If you fancy any of the girls, you can take her upstairs for deeper conversation, or even fly together as a pair.”
“Fly together?” Qin Lang narrowed his eyes, a sly smile curving his lips. “Brother Hua, I hadn’t realized you were such an old hand at this. I must have underestimated you.”
He thought he was the only one who could come up with such phrases, but to his surprise, Hua Manlou was just as fluent.
Clearly, this fellow spent plenty of time in places like this.
Hearing this, Hua Manlou’s eyes brightened, gazing intently at Qin Lang. “Brother Qin, I didn’t expect you to understand my meaning. We truly are of one mind!”
“Oh, not at all,” Qin Lang replied modestly. “If I must choose, I prefer lovers frolicking in the water.”
“Marvelous, marvelous~”
“We truly are kindred spirits~”
“Come, let’s have a drink!”
At that, Hua Manlou raised his cup, filled to the brim, smiling as he looked at Qin Lang.
Seeing him raise his cup, Qin Lang did not hesitate, lifting his own.
“A toast!”
Clink!
Their cups collided, and both drank heartily.
Just as they were enjoying their wine, a man entered the Misty Rain Pavilion. At a glance, he was none other than Tian Hui, the elite demon hunter.
Looking around for a seat, Tian Hui’s gaze was drawn to the drinking, dancing Qin Lang and Hua Manlou. Without hesitation, he walked over.
Standing before them, he smiled warmly. “Gentlemen, would you mind sharing a table?”
Hearing his voice, Qin Lang and Hua Manlou recognized him instantly. Though they had met only once, his charm and formidable strength had left a lasting impression.
Quickly regaining composure, Qin Lang smiled. “Of course not. It’s our good fortune to meet you here, Tian brother, and sharing a table only adds to it.”
Hua Manlou gave him a meaningful look. “Tian brother, I didn’t realize you were a regular at Misty Rain Pavilion.”
“Haha~” Tian Hui laughed heartily. “Not at all. As a demon hunter, I take the world as my home, the heavens as my bed. Misty Rain Pavilion is a place for us to relax. Men have their needs, and sometimes we come here to let off steam. It’s very helpful.”
“A man of passion~” Hua Manlou’s lips curled up. “Since we’re all of the same mind, let’s drink together while we wait for the madam to bring the girls.”
“Agreed!”
Qin Lang and Tian Hui exchanged glances, then raised their cups for another toast.
…
Half an incense stick’s time passed. As the three enjoyed their wine and watched the women dance by the flower pool, laughing and chatting, Lin Xian returned with six voluptuous, fair-skinned beauties.
Seeing the women, Qin Lang’s eyes flashed green and he swallowed hard, gazing at them with greedy, longing eyes.
This place was truly hell on earth, a devil’s paradise!
Noticing Qin Lang’s glowing gaze fixed on the women, Hua Manlou and Tian Hui exchanged glances.
Lin Xian’s lips curled up as she addressed the three men. “Gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to our six top courtesans from Misty Rain Pavilion. Do they suit your tastes?”
“I’m very satisfied,” Qin Lang replied instantly, his gaze locked on the girls. He turned to his companions, “Are you two satisfied? If not, I’ll take them all myself.”
Hua Manlou shook his head gently. “Brother Qin, there are so many ladies here—you can’t handle them all alone. Besides, when did we say we weren’t satisfied?”
Hearing Hua Manlou’s remark, Qin Lang felt provoked and declared, “Brother Hua, a man should never be called incapable. Even if I am but a mortal, I can handle two in a night.”
“If you two are so slow and don’t know how to appreciate beauty, I’ll choose first—the rest are yours to divide.”
With that, Qin Lang stood up, carefully scrutinizing the six women to see which best matched his desires.
