Chapter 155: Class Meeting
After finishing tidying up, Ye Junze returned to his room.
The lunch he had ordered earlier had just arrived and was still emitting wisps of faint heat.
Seeing the lunch on the table, Ye Junze smiled with satisfaction.
Without further delay, he sat down at the chair and began to enjoy his delicious meal.
Time slipped away steadily as Ye Junze ate bite after bite, and the sun in the sky shifted noticeably from its previous position.
After a while, Ye Junze finally finished his hearty meal. He wiped his mouth with a sense of fulfillment, stood up, and quickly cleared the table.
Just as he returned to his original seat and sat down, his phone suddenly chimed with a message notification.
Ye Junze took out his phone and tapped on the message to check it.
As expected, it was a message from Li Xi: "Attention students, the afternoon homeroom meeting is about to start. Everyone can head over to the classroom now."
To top it all off, it ended with the familiar @All Members.
The moment Ye Junze finished reading the message, responses of "Received." from various students instantly popped up on the screen, almost flooding the chat.
Amidst these standard replies, Ye Junze unexpectedly spotted one that stood out from the rest.
"Teacher, what on earth are we going to be doing in today's homeroom meeting?" After typing this, the sender even boldly @Li Xi.
Looking at the ID displayed above, it turned out to be someone Ye Junze knew—none other than Lu Renjia.
Seeing this, Ye Junze smiled. Although everyone was curious, Lu Renjia was probably the only one daring enough to ask so directly.
Encouraged by Lu Renjia taking the lead, many others grew bolder and chimed in: "Yeah, yeah! What is it about?"
"Just tell us, Teacher. It's really making us too curious."
Replies like these instantly triggered another wave of screen-flooding.
Everyone assumed Li Xi wouldn't reply and was just joining in on the fun. To their surprise, Li Xi actually noticed their messages and responded.
Li Xi replied to everyone: "As for what we'll be doing, it's a secret for now. You'll find out once you get here later. Why not have a little patience and keep the mystery alive? That way, it won't sound so dry when I talk about it later."
Everyone staring at their phone screens rubbed their temples simultaneously.
The unanimous thought in their minds was: "He really loves keeping us in suspense as always. It seems Teacher Li Xi's dark-bellied trait isn't just on display during classes, but even in ordinary group chats."
Ye Junze smiled; sure enough, that was still Teacher Li Xi.
Shaking his head, Ye Junze stopped thinking about it. Since so many students couldn't pry the answer out of the teacher, saying anything more would be useless. He simply decided to let it go. Besides, as the teacher said, he would find out once he got there.
After the flood of messages... Li Xi continued: "Alright, that's it then. Everyone can set off after you finish eating. I'll be waiting for you in the classroom."
After that, Li Xi said no more, leaving the students to chat aimlessly in the group.
Seeing this, Ye Junze put his phone away again.
Nodding, he muttered to himself, "Since that's the case, it's about time I got going too."
With that, Ye Junze stood up from his chair and walked toward the door.
After locking the door, he stepped out of the dormitory building, intending to head back to the same classroom as that morning.
To his surprise, as soon as he stepped out of the building, a familiar voice called out to stop him.
Ye Junze turned his head, and sure enough, it was Yun Tianhan.
He waved his hand.
Yun Tianhan ran over quickly, stopped by Ye Junze's side, and said, "What a coincidence. Did you just come out too?"
Ye Junze nodded and replied, "Yes."
Hearing this, Yun Tianhan smiled and said, "That's perfect. I just finished reading the teacher's message and rushed out right after eating."
He tentatively asked, "Shall we go together?"
Ye Junze naturally had no objections. He nodded and smiled in response, "Sure."
After all, having company was always better than walking alone.
Without further ado, the two set off again, following the familiar path from that morning toward the Department of Daoist Arts.
As they neared the department, they began to run into quite a few classmates along the way. After exchanging greetings, they headed toward the classroom together.
When these small groups of students returned to the classroom, they found Li Xi already seated at the front.
Seeing them walk in, Li Xi greeted them with a smile, "Good afternoon, students."
Hearing this, the group replied in unison, "Good afternoon, Teacher."
Li Xi smiled, waved his hand, and said, "Find a seat anywhere you like. We'll wait for the rest of the students to arrive before starting today's meeting."
Acknowledging his words, the students turned away to find spots and sat down.
Ye Junze and Yun Tianhan exchanged glances and chose two adjacent seats to sit down.
Once seated, the two of them resumed chatting casually.
In reality, very little time had passed since Li Xi sent the message until now.
Not long after the first batch of students entered, more and more arrived at the classroom.
Li Xi greeted each wave with a smile, repeating the exact same words.
Naturally, these newcomers also found seats for themselves while waiting for the remaining students who had yet to show up.
Before long, Li Li, Fan Yan, and Lu Renjia arrived as well.
Ye Junze and Yun Tianhan waved at the three of them, signaling them to come over.
Seeing this, the trio walked over with smiles.
Once the five of them were gathered, it took only a short while longer for all the students of the Department of Daoist Arts to arrive.
Seeing that everyone was present, Li Xi stood up, looked at the crowd, and said, "Alright, everyone is here now. Let's skip the small talk and start today's homeroom meeting."
The students nodded in agreement.
It's a rare occasion for Teacher Li Xi not to drag things out this time.
That was the most genuine thought running through everyone's minds at that moment.
Li Xi smiled and continued, "I suppose you must all be wondering why we suddenly called for a homeroom meeting today, right?"
Everyone nodded. Obviously—if they weren't curious, why would they have been badgering him in the chat earlier?
Seeing this, Li Xi went on, "Then I'll get straight to the point. The main purpose of holding this meeting today is to elect a class monitor. As for the rest, it's just some trivial matters."
Hearing this, the students looked somewhat surprised and began whispering and discussing with those around them.
Weren't they students at a school for cultivators? Since when did they need to do things like electing class officials?
Hearing the commotion, Li Xi didn't look annoyed at all. Instead, he smiled and said, "I know you must all be perplexed, thinking, 'Aren't we cultivators? Why do we still need to elect class officials like in the old student days?'"
Hearing that, the students desperately wanted to roll their eyes at Li Xi. Since you knew what we were thinking, why did you even ask?
Li Xi smiled nonchalantly and said, "Well, although we are cultivators, we are still students in a school after all. Nobody objects to this point, right?"
Everyone nodded, indicating they agreed. This was a matter of course, something obvious to anyone with eyes.
"Therefore, after a week of integration, I believe you must have all discovered certain issues within our class. For instance, whenever we had anything to communicate in the past, it always had to be relayed to you through us teachers."
Hearing Li Xi put it this way, the students recalled what had happened over the past week. Indeed, it seemed to have been that way, so they nodded in agreement.
"However, this is not a long-term solution. Last week, it worked because we teachers weren't too busy yet, so we still had the leisure to look after your affairs. Going forward, aside from daily lectures, we have other responsibilities to attend to. In that case, there will inevitably be many things we won't be able to oversee for you. Because of that, if something comes up, we might not be able to relay it to you immediately. If things go on like that, it's bound to lead to delays or important matters being left undone."
Li Xi paused for a moment before continuing, "I assume none of you would want to see such a situation happen, right?"
Recalling Li Xi's words, the students realized it made a lot of sense, so they nodded in agreement.
Seeing this, Li Xi stated once more, "Therefore, it is very necessary to elect a class monitor—someone responsible for looking after everyone, handling various class matters, passing on announcements from the academy, and managing other tasks we need to complete."
Hearing this, the students finally wore expressions of sudden realization, as if they had just figured everything out.
"Judging by your looks, I take it you all understand now?" Li Xi said with a smile.
Before anyone could say anything, Li Xi continued, "Then without further ado, let's begin our class monitor election."
"The rules for this election are as follows."
With that, Li Xi raised a finger and made a gesture.
Immediately afterward, a huge projection appeared before the eyes of everyone present, densely covered with text.
Seeing this, the students all raised their heads to read the content on the projection.
"Rules for the Election of the Class Monitor of the Department of Daoist Arts: This election adopts a voluntary registration method. If any student feels capable of being responsible for everyone, responsible for the students of the Department of Daoist Arts, and willing to work diligently, they are welcome to step forward and participate in the election. Give an election speech and see if you can win the favor of your peers and their approval for you to serve as class monitor."
"The final result will be decided by a vote from every student. However, please note that election candidates do not have voting rights this time around. Each student has only one vote to cast for the candidate whose election speech moved them the most. The candidate with the highest number of votes will be our newly elected class monitor."
"The Department of Teaching and Research of Anze Academy reserves the final right of interpretation for this event."
After quickly reading through the text on the projection, everyone gained a clear understanding of the election process outlined by Li Xi.
Everyone nodded. After all, the text on the projection wasn't difficult to understand; it was clear at a glance, eliminating the need for Li Xi to give any further explanations.
Seeing that everyone looked like they had finished reading the rules, Li Xi asked, "So, does everyone understand the election rules?"
The students nodded and replied in unison, "Teacher, we understand!"
"Good, then shall we begin?" With his eyes narrowing into smiling crescents, Li Xi said, "Is there any student who would like to volunteer and be the first to take the lead?"
Having said that, Li Xi looked at the crowd below the stage.
However, the students who had been so lively and curious just moments before were now exchanging knowing smiles with those around them, yet not a single person was willing to step up and be the "leader" Li Xi had asked for.
Seeing this, Li Xi feigned astonishment and said, "No way? Could it be that nobody wants to be the class monitor?! The perks of being a class monitor are actually quite good, you know. Are you all sure?"
Seeing Li Xi act like this, the smiles on the students' faces grew even broader. A few of them, however, seemed to have their resolve strengthened quite a bit by Li Xi's words.
Seeing this, Li Xi wasn't in a hurry either, quietly waiting instead.
He only occasionally offered a few words of encouragement, half-jokingly, just like before.
After a short while, a deep male voice spoke up, "Since everyone is being so modest, I suppose I won't stand on ceremony for this class monitor position."
