Volume One: Entering the Path Chapter 127: Reviewing the Situation
After leaving the restaurant, the group exchanged pleasantries before waving goodbye and heading toward their respective dormitory buildings.
Ye Junze naturally walked with Yun Tianhan, the two of them strolling side by side toward the Qian Building. Along the way, Yun Tianhan could not stop rubbing his stomach, which he had stuffed to the brim during the meal, smacking his lips in lingering satisfaction. Seeing this, Ye Junze rubbed his forehead with a helpless sigh, then shook his head, deciding to leave him be.
Rubbing his belly, Yun Tianhan suddenly remarked, "Ye Junze, I have to say, Li Ling is truly generous. We ordered so much, and he didn't even bat an eye when he settled the bill."
Ye Junze smiled and replied, "Didn't he say it himself in the Heavenly Derivation Dream class? He has nothing but money, so it’s only natural for him to be that generous."
Yun Tianhan nodded in agreement. "That’s true, but it does make one wonder what his family does. Do you think they are at the level of the wealthiest people in the country?"
Ye Junze pondered for a moment and said with a smile, "Who knows? That possibility can't be ruled out."
"If that's true, then we might have some good days ahead of us," Yun Tianhan said, his eyes filled with anticipation and longing.
Ye Junze waved his hand, cutting off Yun Tianhan’s train of thought. He smiled and said to him, "Alright, stop daydreaming. Even if he is wealthy, that’s his own fortune. Instead of thinking about that, you’d be better off thinking about how to make yourself that rich."
Yun Tianhan nodded earnestly and replied, "I know, I’m just saying."
Hearing this, Ye Junze felt reassured. He nodded and said, "Good, stop thinking about that. Let’s hurry back."
As they walked and talked, they gradually neared the Qian Building. Upon reaching the entrance, Yun Tianhan waved goodbye to Ye Junze, turned, and entered the building to return to his dorm. After parting ways, Ye Junze smiled, shook his head, and continued on his way without delay.
Once back in his room, Ye Junze tidied up briefly and sat on his bed. Recalling the events of the day's class, a thought suddenly struck him. *Come to think of it, didn't Instructor Lei assign a homework task to review our combat? Since I have nothing else to do, I might as well get that done now.*
After a moment of reflection, he had an idea. "I'll go into the Taixu Illusionary Realm."
With his mind made up, Ye Junze did not hesitate. He entered meditation mode and slipped into the Taixu Illusionary Realm, intending to combine his combat review with his cultivation.
Upon entering the realm, Ye Junze spoke directly to Meng Yuan: "Meng Yuan, open the projection. I have something to do."
Hearing his voice, Meng Yuan respectfully acknowledged the request and activated the projection as instructed. A familiar, massive blue screen appeared, floating silently in the air. Ye Junze nodded in satisfaction and thanked Meng Yuan. Meng Yuan replied as always, "You are welcome; it is my duty."
Without further ado, Ye Junze began his review. He took out his phone and transferred the combat recording he had downloaded during class to the projection. The screen began to play the duel between him and Yun Tianhan.
Seeing that it worked, a joy he couldn't hide appeared on Ye Junze's face. He focused his eyes on the projection, watching intently as he conducted his review.
Initially, Ye Junze thought he only had a few minor issues, but as he viewed the battle from a god’s-eye perspective—pausing, zooming in, and examining every detail—he discovered numerous flaws in the clash between him and Yun Tianhan.
Watching himself on the screen, he sighed with regret. "At this spot, if I had moved just a bit higher, the result would have been much better."
"And here, and here... how did I not notice these?" he muttered, sighing repeatedly.
Suddenly, Meng Yuan, who had been silent for a long time, spoke up. "When both of you invoked your Great Dao Seals, if you had managed to make the lightning energy within your body more condensed, you could have exerted a greater influence on your opponent."
It was clear that Meng Yuan had been watching the recording alongside him, allowing it to identify a detail Ye Junze had missed in such a short time. Ye Junze waved his finger in the air, freezing the frame to the moment they released their Great Dao Seals.
"Meng Yuan, are you talking about this?" Ye Junze asked.
"Correct, that is the spot," Meng Yuan affirmed.
Ye Junze didn't say anything more. He stared intently at the scene, searching for the mistakes his past self had failed to spot. Meng Yuan remained silent, allowing him to review in peace.
After studying the scene for a while, Ye Junze attempted to simulate what Meng Yuan had suggested. After some time, he realized that doing so would indeed have been highly effective, and his heart filled with joy. As he watched more of the recording, his review became increasingly proficient, and he gained deeper insights into the application of various techniques.
After an unknown amount of time, Meng Yuan’s voice broke the silence again. "I can create a simulated combat exercise based on this recording to help you resolve the issues you've discovered more quickly. Would you like me to do so?"
Surprised and pleased, Ye Junze replied, "What? You can do that, Meng Yuan?"
"Indeed. Would you like to proceed?" Meng Yuan asked.
After considering the matter, Ye Junze realized that while he had found many areas for improvement, he wouldn't know if he had truly mastered them without practical application. "Yes, I need it," he replied.
"Very well. Creating the combat zone now, please wait a moment," Meng Yuan responded.
Ye Junze waited patiently. A short while later, he sensed a shift in the environment and looked toward the source of the movement. A familiar arena stood before him.
"The combat zone has been created. You may go up and begin your review," Meng Yuan announced.
"Thank you," Ye Junze said. Meng Yuan simply offered a soft acknowledgement.
Ye Junze stepped onto the arena. Once he was in position, a phantom identical to Yun Tianhan appeared before him. The phantom's spiritual energy fluctuations were not particularly strong—by Ye Junze's estimation, it possessed less than half the power Yun Tianhan had displayed that day.
Ye Junze understood; the purpose of this exercise was to practice the corrections, so the phantom didn't need to be overwhelming. He didn't hesitate and launched an attack, carefully controlling his own strength so as not to defeat the phantom too quickly.
As the fight progressed, Ye Junze focused on correcting the mistakes he had identified, testing new strategies. He soon realized that the phantom’s combat style was remarkably similar to Yun Tianhan’s, a detail Meng Yuan had clearly designed with care. A warm feeling washed over him, and he felt a surge of gratitude toward Meng Yuan.
Shaking off the distraction, he poured his focus back into the fight. He was determined to make the most of this hard-won opportunity for improvement.
Time flew by as he immersed himself in the battle. Finally, with one last strike from Ye Junze, the phantom could no longer withstand the force and slowly dissipated. With the phantom gone, the review session concluded.
Ye Junze clapped his hands together and let out a satisfied breath. "Finally, a complete review. The issues I found have been properly addressed. It seems I’ve done quite well."
He turned and called out into the air, "Meng Yuan, how was that?"
"During the review combat, the previously identified issues were corrected one by one. Overall, it was a success," Meng Yuan replied.
Ye Junze nodded, smiling. "Good."
"Since that's settled, I'm going to cultivate now," he said, stepping off the arena. Meng Yuan gave a soft acknowledgement, and Ye Junze moved to his usual spot, assumed his cultivation posture, and began to practice once more.
