Huali was both startled and afraid, instinctively clutching his waist with a furrowed brow, his face twisted in pain.

“Dr. Nie! Where’s Dr. Nie? Quick, get him to take a look at Huali! Something’s wrong with his back—hurry!” One of his men noticed Huali’s strange behavior and shouted anxiously.

“Huh? Where did that bastard go? Damn it, he must’ve taken the money and run!” A Biao scanned the room for Nie Feng but saw no sign of him, cursing bitterly.

By now, Nie Feng was long gone. Upon hearing that something truly sinister had been found in Huali’s home, he’d been terrified and slipped out of the private room amid the chaos.

“What do we do? Huali, how are you feeling? Should we take you to the hospital?” someone asked urgently.

“Shut up! I’m not dying yet. Quick, call Su… Dr. Su, where’s Old Wei? Wei!” Huali’s fear outweighed his physical pain at this moment; he hadn’t lost his senses yet and shouted loudly.

“Huali, I already called Dr. Su, but he didn’t answer!” Wei’s face was pale with worry as he spoke.

After seeing the eerie little figure in the photograph, Wei hadn’t waited for Huali’s instructions and had immediately dialed Su Zheng’s number. Everything Su Zheng had said before had come true, and now, Wei was convinced that only Su Zheng could unravel the strange happenings tormenting Huali.

“He… didn’t answer?” Huali’s expression turned desperate and regretful, suspecting that his earlier words and actions had offended Su Zheng, who no longer wished to deal with him.

“Huali, how about I go with Second Brother to Su Zheng’s place and beg him for help?” A Biao suggested.

“No, I’ll go myself. That will show my sincerity!” Huali replied in a low voice, determined to visit Su Zheng in person and make amends, hoping to earn his forgiveness and persuade him to save his life.

“Also, send someone to find Nie Feng for me. I’ve wrongly accused Dr. Su again and again, all because of that bastard. He mustn’t get away with it!” Huali’s tone was harsh, unwilling to let Nie Feng off.

“Yes!” his men responded loudly, quickly springing into action.

Accompanied by Wei and A Biao, Huali drove through the night straight to Su Zheng’s residence in Liyuan Community.

After drinking the herbal concoction made from Red Mist Grass, Su Zheng felt his constitution had improved markedly; his body was light, and his limbs were filled with newfound strength.

That night, as he was preparing to sleep, he received a call and a message from Wei, informing him that Huali was coming in person to apologize. Su Zheng simply replied, “We’ll talk tomorrow,” and went to bed.

The next morning, he vaguely heard the sounds of a quarrel between his mother-in-law, Lü Hongmei, and Chen Muxue.

“Muxue, I just want you to meet some friends. Why are you so resistant?”

“They just came back from studying abroad; their parents own four or five companies. Do you think just anyone can get acquainted with them? It’s because my friend feels sorry for our family and wants to introduce you to some quality connections!”

Lü Hongmei’s tone shifted as she continued, “And you don’t need to care what that loser thinks. He’s no help to you, eating and loafing around at home all day. If you imagine spending your life with him, you’ll only suffer!”

“What can he give you? He can’t earn a cent. I just don’t want to see you working so hard every day!” Chen Muxue’s voice rang coldly, “Mom, that’s enough! Stay out of my business. Su Zheng isn’t as useless as you think; he helped me close several deals yesterday!”

“And Su Zheng will definitely make money in the future. Trust me. Please just cook breakfast—I need to get to the office early today. Stop making trouble, okay?”

Listening to the argument outside, Su Zheng felt both pained and moved. He was hurt by his mother-in-law’s bluntness—openly introducing men to Muxue while he was still living in the house—yet touched by Muxue’s steadfast support and high expectations of him.

“Ah, you’re so stubborn! As your mother, I’m only thinking of your future. You’re bewitched by his sweet talk, you know? Money isn’t so easy to earn—it doesn’t just fall from the sky!” Lü Hongmei said as she opened the door to go downstairs to the corner shop. But as soon as she opened it, a bank card was handed to her.

“Good morning, Auntie. I’m a friend of Dr. Su. Since this is our first meeting, please accept this card with ten million yuan as a token of my sincerity. I insist you take it.”

“Uh!” Lü Hongmei was startled. She wanted to ask who these people were, but the mention of ten million yuan stunned her. In that instant, her mind was filled with nothing but money.

“Ten million… money really does fall from the sky?”

She murmured, reaching out instinctively for the card, but Chen Muxue, arriving behind her, pulled her arm back.

“Mom, who are these people? How can you just take it? What if they’re scammers?” Chen Muxue stepped forward, pulling her mother behind her and eyeing Huali, who wore a polite smile, with caution. “What are you doing here?”

“Ahem… You must be my sister-in-law? Hehe… I’m Dr. Su’s friend, Huali. You should know Wei, right? I’m his boss. Sorry for the abrupt visit; I just wanted to see Dr. Su… Um, is he awake yet?” Huali explained, exceedingly polite and deferential.

Chen Muxue glanced at Wei, and her guard dropped, though she was still somewhat surprised that three men had come so early, and even suspected that Su Zheng might have offended someone when he visited Wei’s home yesterday.

“Oh, Mr. Wei, you’re looking for Su Zheng? Why so early? If there’s something urgent, come in and sit down,” she said, thinking it would be rude to keep them outside.

“No need, sister-in-law. We’ll just wait at the door for Dr. Su to wake up. Please go about your business—we won’t disturb his morning rest. We have plenty of time and can wait,” Huali replied, still smiling politely.

Chen Muxue’s brows furrowed. She hadn’t noticed before, but now she realized Huali kept calling her “sister-in-law.” Judging by his age, he must be nearly fifty—is that really appropriate? And she vaguely heard him refer to her mother as “Auntie.” Was he out of his mind?

“Sister-in-law, please accept this card. We came in a hurry and didn’t bring gifts. Sorry for the boldness, hehe…” Huali respectfully offered the bank card again.

Chen Muxue was about to refuse, but Lü Hongmei stepped forward with a pleased smile. “Oh, how can I accept this? But… why don’t you all come in and sit for a while? Don’t be shy!” As she spoke, she took the card from Huali, her lips trembling with delight.

She’d heard there was ten million in it—so much money, more than they’d ever seen in their lives. How generous people were with gifts these days!
