Beside Chen Peng stood a young woman, her attire flamboyant, her face heavily painted with makeup.

“Su Zheng?! Ha... How dare a good-for-nothing like you come here? Do you even know where this is? This is the most upscale dealership in Qingyang, a place for selling cars. People like you might be thrown out the moment you step inside.” Chen Peng mocked without restraint, not regarding Su Zheng as anything worth his attention.

Especially in front of his new girlfriend, his arrogance only swelled. After his words, he even winked deliberately at the alluring woman beside him.

“Chen Peng, what business is it of yours? This place isn’t owned by your family!” Chen Muxue snapped coldly.

“Whoa! Your face... is healed?” At first, Chen Peng’s attention had been solely on Su Zheng, and he hadn’t noticed Chen Muxue walking behind him. Now, seeing her, he was so startled he nearly jumped, unable to believe his eyes.

Even the woman next to him furrowed her brows, her eyes involuntarily flashing with jealousy.

No wonder: compared to Chen Muxue’s breathtaking beauty, her own face, caked with thick powder, looked stiff and unnatural. The key was, even with all that makeup, she still couldn’t compare to Chen Muxue’s natural charm.

“Tch! What’s the use of a pretty face? In this world, it’s all about money. Without it, you’ll end up having to sell yourself anyway, hehe...” The woman, consumed by envy, couldn’t help but mutter under her breath, though she had to admit Chen Muxue was truly beautiful.

“Haha! Ella, you’re right. Maybe you don’t know, but these two are penniless. In a few days, they won’t even be allowed back into their own family. Pathetic, right? Hahaha...” Chen Peng, sensing his new girlfriend’s discontent, quickly chimed in, eager to trample Su Zheng and Chen Muxue beneath his feet.

“I knew it. They look dirt poor. And a face like hers? Bad luck for any husband!” Ella grew smug and added her own derision.

Chen Muxue’s expression was icy, while Su Zheng acted without a word.

With a swift step, he moved right in front of Ella, ignoring Chen Peng entirely, and looked down at her with cold authority.

“Apologize. Go and apologize to my wife. Right now. Immediately.”

“Su Zheng! Bastard, how dare you threaten Ella? Are you looking to die?” Chen Peng protested furiously. Now was his chance to show off his masculinity in front of Su Zheng, whom he considered a loser.

But with a sharp slap, Su Zheng sent him staggering sideways, nearly falling after stumbling several steps.

“Uh...” Ella froze in shock. She hadn’t expected Su Zheng to act so decisively, striking Chen Peng without hesitation and leaving him dazed.

“You... How dare you hit someone?” she blustered, though it was clear Su Zheng’s violence had rattled her confidence.

“Apologize,” Su Zheng said coldly, his gaze fixed on her, spitting out the command.

“You son of a bitch, you dare hit me? I’ll kill you!” Chen Peng wiped the blood from his lip and howled venomously. However, his bark was worse than his bite; intimidated by Su Zheng’s slap, he didn’t dare approach.

“Su Zheng, let it go. Don’t let this ruin our day,” Chen Muxue intervened, seeing things getting out of hand. Whether Ella apologized or not didn’t really matter; she’d endured worse humiliation from her own family for years. She was used to it.

“No. Today, she must apologize.” Su Zheng’s tone was unyielding. He turned to Chen Muxue and said, “I told you, from now on, I won’t let anyone wrong you, not even a little. I mean what I say. She insulted you today, so she must apologize. Not even a king could change that!”

Then he shot a cold glare at Chen Peng. “If she doesn’t apologize, I’ll slap both your faces into pig heads, so everyone passing by can witness your disgrace.”

“You... A gentleman uses words, not fists!” Chen Peng stammered, managing only to shock everyone present with his feeble protest.

Su Zheng and Chen Muxue exchanged glances, both wearing wry smiles, as if looking at a fool. Even Ella’s face froze in disbelief that her new boyfriend could say something so cowardly.

“I’ll count to three. Decide for yourselves.” Su Zheng couldn’t be bothered to waste more words on Chen Peng and issued his final ultimatum.

“One.”

“Two.”

“I’m sorry, it was my fault!”

They barely reached “two” before both Chen Peng and Ella shouted in unison.

Su Zheng glanced at Chen Peng, then turned to Ella with cold detachment.

“I told you to apologize to my wife. Do you not understand?”

Ella’s face was ashen, her heart seething with hatred for Su Zheng—and for herself, for having chosen so poorly. Chen Peng was nothing but a coward!

“I’m sorry—it was my fault. Please forgive me. I promise it won’t happen again,” Ella forced herself to swallow her resentment and shame, obediently stepping up to Chen Muxue and apologizing in a low voice.

“Forget it. Just think before you speak next time. You can go,” Chen Muxue said, not making things difficult, waving her away.

“Aren’t you leaving?” Su Zheng shot a cold glance at Chen Peng, who stood there head bowed, and barked sharply.

Chen Peng slowly raised his head, shooting Su Zheng and Chen Muxue a venomous look before turning to chase after Ella.

“Come on, let’s go get the car,” Su Zheng smiled at Chen Muxue, and the two of them entered the dealership.

This dealership specialized in high-end vehicles, and its biggest backer was the Li family. When Chen Muxue’s car had been sideswiped some time ago, Qiao Lan had it towed here for a full repair and maintenance.

They entered the showroom, where luxury cars were on display. Several sales consultants were professionally introducing vehicles to customers, their voices pleasant, manners polished and warm.

“Are you here to buy a car?” a bespectacled saleswoman greeted them enthusiastically as Su Zheng and Chen Muxue entered.

“Oh, no. My car was repaired here. I’ve come to pick it up,” Su Zheng replied politely, with a faint smile.

“Repair? Well, which model did you buy from us? We’ve got plenty of new models now—you could take a look. We can help you trade in on the spot, save you a lot of time, and you can enjoy our latest promotions!” The saleswoman was eager not to miss any chance and spoke with a bright smile.

“Sorry, our car wasn’t bought here. We just had it repaired. So, we’re not looking to buy today,” Su Zheng patiently explained again.

“Oh? Your car wasn’t purchased here? That’s strange. We do offer repair services, but only for vehicles bought from our dealership as part of our VIP membership program. Are you sure you’re not mistaken?” The saleswoman looked Su Zheng and Chen Muxue up and down with a skeptical eye.
