Chapter Sixty-Six: Kuang Shao, You've Discovered the Truth Again
“Come find me tomorrow, I’ll give you the information on abilities,” Zhan Yu said.
Kuang Shao straightened his expression and asked, “Was that from your sister?”
“Mm.” Zhan Yu merely nodded.
“Forget it. Metal-type abilities aren’t much use to me,” Kuang Shao shook his head. Such things were too valuable; he couldn’t accept it, especially since it wasn’t Zhan Yu’s to give. Besides, every ability was different, with vast disparities between types. Metal was too niche for him to benefit from.
“It’s fire-type ability information,” Zhan Yu said seriously.
“What?” Kuang Shao’s mouth parted slightly in surprise. “Fire-type?”
“She gave it to me today, asked me to pass it on to you.” The metal-type information had been given to Zhan Yu by Xuan Xuan, and he was well aware of its value. Without her consent, he would never share it. Even if Xuan Xuan wouldn’t mind, or wasn’t bothered by it.
Kuang Shao was stunned. Had a windfall really dropped from the sky and landed right on him?
This girl probably didn’t realize the importance of cultivation methods for abilities. Just looking at Zhan Yu’s progress these past few months, it was clear how valuable her gift was.
Zhan Yu glanced at Kuang Shao, somewhat uncertain. Why did it seem like Kuang Shao’s mental strength had increased today? Was it just his imagination? There hadn’t been any sign yesterday; after all, Kuang Shao was already at S-rank, and it was difficult to further enhance mental power at this level. Usually, there would be some fluctuation beforehand. Zhan Yu frowned and asked, “You seem different today?”
Kuang Shao became furious, thinking Zhan Yu was referring to his transformation into a woman again. “You’re the one who’s different! Your whole family’s different!”
A bead of cold sweat trickled down Zhan Yu’s forehead. Was it really necessary to get so worked up?
But thinking of Kuang Shao’s devastatingly beautiful female appearance, Zhan Yu wanted to laugh. Yet seeing Kuang Shao’s murderous look, he covered his mouth and coughed dryly twice.
“Zhan Yu!” Kuang Shao knew he’d laugh at him.
After coughing again, Zhan Yu composed himself. “I meant your mental strength seems to have broken through today.”
“Hm?” Kuang Shao was taken aback; he’d been too angry to notice. He summoned his mental energy and felt it—had it really increased?
He spread his palm, and a small flame blossomed in his hand.
Under Kuang Shao’s control, the flame danced and shifted shape.
A smile curled at his lips—his mental strength truly had grown, and his fire-type ability felt much stronger.
Now, controlling it was almost effortless.
“Looks like it’s increased quite a bit,” Kuang Shao said, pleasantly surprised. Breaking through in mental strength wasn’t easy. He’d just advanced to S-rank not long ago, and it usually took much time to stabilize. Now, he seemed to be at mid-level S-rank.
Zhan Yu raised an eyebrow. “Maybe she saw your talent and decided to give you the information.”
“Just ‘talented’?” Kuang Shao asked. With his abilities, merely calling it ‘talented’ felt insufficient. If even he was only ‘talented,’ then what counted as exceptional?
If I’m just ‘talented,’ what about you?
Zhan Yu ignored him, watching his conceited attitude.
“Well, now I’m not worried. Let’s go to the Wanqi family,” Kuang Shao said, emboldened by his newfound strength.
There had already been several assassination attempts recently, and even within the Kuang family, many had made moves.
No matter the era, money was always paramount. As the wealthiest household in the Federation, they were a fat sheep in many eyes.
Wars were fought with money; without it, nothing could be done.
Kuang Shao was the sole heir to his family—if not him, then who? With no successor, plenty would be eager to carve up the Kuang family.
Zhan Yu nodded in agreement. The Wanqi family had had several incidents lately, but as the third young master, under his protection, their little chubby girl had remained untouched. He smirked coldly; if the Wanqi family truly fell, the entire Federation would be buried with it.
Such short-sighted fools.
For years, the war against the Zerg had been supported almost entirely by the Wanqi and Zhan families. Now Zhan’s family was dwindling—he was the only one left, and how much could he do?
If there were wars in the future, it would all depend on the Wanqi family. Did those politicians really think they could fight? Ridiculous.
Furthermore, mecha production and innovation depended almost entirely on the Wanqi and Kuang families. If they were pushed to the brink, everything would be destroyed.
Ha, Zhan Yu was just waiting to see the joke, watching the Federation go down with the Wanqi and Kuang families.
“Why do you bother returning to the Imperial Capital when you’re fine?” Kuang Shao complained. “I was about to go looking for you in the Black Domain. I manage the capital, but the Federation is falling apart. In the Black Domain, we live free and easy.”
“Under a fallen nest, no egg remains intact,” Zhan Yu sighed. “If the Federation is destroyed, the Black Domain won’t last long either.”
He too wished he didn’t have to live in such chaos, spending every day guessing and scheming against others.
Kuang Shao pursed his lips. He understood, but he was too disappointed in the Federation.
Still, the people of the Federation weren’t to blame.
They were all innocent victims.
“Oh, right,” Kuang Shao suddenly remembered, “I heard the old Wanqi master’s granddaughter is also named Xuan Xuan?”
Zhan Yu shot him a glance. That little chubby girl? The difference was too great.
But really, he wondered how she was doing—it had been a long time since he’d seen her, and for some reason she liked to cling to him.
“You think that girl is your sister?” Kuang Shao said mysteriously.
Kuang Shao, always seeking the truth.
But Zhan Yu didn’t believe it—the difference was vast: one was a cuddly little chubby girl, the other a graceful young lady.
“So what? It’s possible,” Kuang Shao persisted, seeing Zhan Yu ignore him. “Your families are well matched. Not bad. By the way, did you meet them when you escorted them back last time?”
Zhan Yu replied wearily, “Wanqi Lianhao is thirty-eight.”
“That’s fine, a bit older isn’t a problem,” Kuang Shao said, then paused. “Wait, Wanqi Third Young Master is thirty-eight? What about his daughter?”
Zhan Yu glanced at him, barely able to hold back his sarcasm. “Seven.”
“My god, a little loli—not even a loli, just a toddler!”
“Obviously,” Zhan Yu didn’t bother looking at him.
“Such a pity.”
With a slap, Zhan Yu ended the call. He was the one who should be pitied—a pity today’s video and photos didn’t work out. But the Kuang family heir’s nude photos, perhaps someone would be interested.
