"Where did you find such a prim and proper girl, all wrapped up like that?" Kuang Shao asked in frustration. She was even veiled—what era did she think this was?

Zhan Yu shot him a glance. "You've already scared her off. Here, I'll give you a bottle. Go experiment with it yourself."

Kuang Shao weighed the bottle in his hand. Honestly, he doubted this thing would have any real effect. What intrigued him more was that Zhan Yu seemed to treat this beauty differently. Could it be that after spending three years in the military, not seeing any women, he had suddenly become interested in all of them? Maybe. After all, he’d never shown much interest in women before, let alone approached one directly. There was definitely something going on! Grinning mischievously, he asked, "Where did this girl come from?"

Zhan Yu ignored him. Subconsciously, he didn’t want Kuang Shao making fun of her.

Suddenly, Zhan Yu frowned. "Mission. Logging off."

Kuang Shao watched him disconnect, eyes wide. Another mission? If your mission lasts a year or more, what am I supposed to do?

He glanced at the potion in his hand. The color was nice enough. He opened it and took a sniff, but couldn’t quite place the scent. As a newly advanced S-rank, he couldn't sense anything special from it. Besides, he worried Zhan Yu might betray their friendship over a woman—who could say? What if it was poison, and Zhan Yu was using him to get rid of a rival for her? Honestly, with how reserved Zhan Yu could be, it was plausible. But since Kuang Chi had just been promoted to B-rank...

"Kuang Chi?"

"Young master." In no time, the man appeared before him.

He tossed the vial to him. "Try it. Just got my hands on something good."

Kuang Chi knew his young master’s temperament all too well—always playing tricks on them. Lately, other than failing to win that potion at auction, he hadn’t done anything to annoy Kuang Shao. He protested, "Young master, I’m still investigating the source of the Volcano Potion."

Kuang Shao rolled his eyes. "Would I ever harm you?"

Kuang Chi forced a smile. Who drank the aphrodisiac Miss Bai gave you last time? Who drank the laxative young master gave you the time before? And the time before that... Still, he had to pledge his loyalty, or else his young master’s capricious nature meant plenty of suffering ahead. "Young master would never harm his subordinates."

Satisfied, Kuang Shao nodded. He’d always been a good master who cared for his people. "Drink it."

"Thank you, young master." With a bitter face, Kuang Chi closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and downed the potion. "Smack smack."

"Well?" Kuang Shao asked. He didn’t expect much, but curiosity got the better of him.

"The taste is alright—a bit sour and a bit sweet."

Smack! Kuang Shao slapped him on the back of the head, a vein throbbing on his forehead. "I asked about the effect!"

"Effect? What effect?" Kuang Chi was momentarily stunned.

So, it had no effect. Disappointed, Kuang Shao gave him another slap, stifled a yawn behind his hand. He was exhausted—hadn’t slept all night, worrying over this potion, and in the end, he hadn’t even managed to win it.

"Young master, young master, young master!"

Another slap. "Are you chanting spirits?"

Kuang Chi pouted pitifully. "Young master, there’s something—something!"

Smack! "You’ve got something? Your whole family’s got something!"

Kuang Chi’s mouth twitched. "Young master, it’s working!"

His eyes lit up. "What’s the effect?"

"Young master, test it—see which level my psychic attack is now." Kuang Chi’s eyes were glowing with excitement as he spoke. After he drank it, he hadn’t noticed anything at first, but a few seconds later, a wave of heat surged through his body, rushing straight to his mind. His psychic power expanded rapidly—by more than ten percent, it seemed. Of course, since he’d just reached B-rank, the proportional increase was especially significant.

Kuang Shao lifted his chin, inviting him to proceed. Kuang Chi focused his psychic power and attacked Kuang Shao, but it was easily deflected.

"Hey, didn’t you just get to B-rank? This is already mid-B-rank, isn’t it?" Kuang Shao tugged at his mouth. Was this thing actually effective? Hard to believe.

"Young master, is this the Volcano Potion?" Kuang Chi’s eyes burned with such intensity that Kuang Shao got goosebumps.

He nodded. "Seems like it."

"Is there more? Young master, is there more?"

"Why are you getting so excited? There was only one bottle, and you’ve already drunk it." Kuang Shao gave him another slap. If he’d known it actually worked, he would have had his men analyze it thoroughly before trying it himself. He eyed the bottle. Damn—who just drinks it all in one go? Not a drop left.

"What?" Kuang Chi was stunned. "I just drank six million star coins in a single gulp?"

"Yep, so you’d better start thinking about how you’ll sell yourself to pay off the debt," Kuang Shao joked. He’d clearly seen that Zhan Yu had four bottles but only gave him one—so stingy. If this thing really worked, then who was that girl so tightly wrapped up? She’d made the potion herself. If this could be replicated in reality, the world would be turned upside down.

"Young master, you’ve tricked me again."

"I’m so tired. I’m off to rest. You think carefully about how you feel, do a thorough evaluation, and record all the data. And we’re not going to the Black Zone anymore." With that, he logged off.
