Chapter Ninety-Nine: Bungee Jumping
PS: Once again, begging for some romance, begging for romance.
"Shall we go in? Let’s not delay any longer," Xuan Guo said, her eyes fixed on Ai Zhe.
Everyone around nodded eagerly, clamoring to enter.
Xuan Xuan covered her mouth with her small hand and yawned. She always seemed perpetually half-asleep, yet Wan Qi Weihang anxiously asked, “Are you tired from waiting too long? Should we just go back?”
Xuan Guo’s face darkened. She wanted to enter, but whenever Wan Qi Weihang opposed her, if she insisted on coming, they threatened to leave. If this wasn’t sincere, no one would believe it.
Lowering her eyes with a hint of grievance, she said softly, “Xuan Xuan, is it because I came late? I didn’t mean to fall ill.”
Xuan Xuan didn’t even glance at her—she clearly thought too highly of herself.
Though Xuan Xuan ignored her, others did not. The girls who were usually close to Xuan Guo all spoke up, “Exactly. Xuan Guo came despite being sick; show some respect for Wan Qi Weihang. You’re really going too far.”
“Please, spare me your respect,” Wan Qi Weihang said coldly, not even looking their way. How could Xuan Xuan’s actions be excessive? He turned to Xuan Xuan and asked, “Shall we go home? I’m not in the mood.”
Ai Zhe looked over as well. Though she had grown up quite a bit, she still looked the same—always sleepy, never fully satisfied when eating, with a faint curve at the corner of her lips. Her gaze flickered coldly toward those around Xuan Guo.
Leaning against Wan Qi Weihao, Xuan Xuan yawned again, her eyes shimmering with fatigue, “Forget it.”
She glanced toward the girl Wan Qi Weihang had pushed back and the look of grievance on her face. If a show was about to start, how could she be denied the chance? “Let’s go in.”
“If you wait until tomorrow, I’ll close the gates and make you come alone. How about that?” Seeing Wan Qi Weihao’s displeased expression, Wan Qi Weihang hurriedly added, feeling responsible since he had invited these classmates along.
“Ah, Wan Qi Weihang, is this amusement park yours?” a curious classmate asked.
Wan Qi Weihang shook his head.
The girl who had been pushed back murmured quietly, “I knew it, always boasting about the family estate. Closing the gates too, hmph.”
Wan Qi Weihang didn’t even glance at her and told the others, “The amusement park belongs to Xuan Xuan.”
When Wan Qi Weihang said this, Xuan Xuan didn’t object. Whose it was didn’t matter; it was just an amusement park.
The onlookers were stunned. “Such a large amusement park belongs to Xuan Xuan?”
“Grandfather said he wanted to build one for Xuan Xuan to play in. But with so many projects going on, it was delayed until today,” Wan Qi Weihang explained. Leading everyone to the main gate, the crowd was large, and ticket sales were temporarily halted to control numbers until those inside exited.
When they arrived, quite a few people were waiting at the gate.
The girl fell silent, knowing well that the Wan Qi family favored Wan Qi Xuan Xuan, the so-called “waste,” but this favoritism was so extreme it was almost unimaginable. In the imperial capital, not many families would dare to claim such a vast plot of land, let alone build an amusement park of this scale.
Although she dared not say more, she cast a disdainful glance at Xuan Xuan. No matter how much love she received, she was still a waste.
But thinking better of it, she kept silent.
Before Wan Qi Weihang could step forward, a staff member approached, “Second young master, you and your classmates, please follow me this way.”
With that, they were led through the VIP entrance.
Wan Qi Weihang nodded and led them inside. Wan Qi Weihao, Xuan Xuan, and Ai Zhe walked at the back, even Ai Zhe among them.
Xuan Guo glanced at Ai Zhe behind them, hesitated, then left the girls she was with and caught up.
Ai Zhe seemed oblivious and walked on ahead.
Biting her lip slightly, Xuan Guo watched Ai Zhe’s retreating figure, clenched her fists, then smiled faintly and followed.
The amusement park was originally built for Xuan Xuan, so it was large and well-equipped. Though it was later handed to Wan Qi Weihang, both were precious to the family. Wan Qi Yi had also invested great care, which explained the long construction period. Among all amusement parks in the federation, this one ranked among the top—not necessarily the largest, but every attraction was top-notch.
To maintain quality, admission was limited, so once inside, it wasn’t crowded at all.
Glancing at the park guide in her hand, “There are so many attractions; where should we go first?”
“The roller coaster? That’s thrilling.”
“Is the roller coaster more exciting than the haunted house?”
“The Ferris wheel. They say you can see the entire imperial capital from the top.”
“No, let’s go to the water park. It’s hot, and that place is cooler.”
“Xuan Guo, where do you think we should go?”
Xuan Guo hesitated, glanced at Ai Zhe, then at Xuan Xuan. Her greatest advantage over Wan Qi Xuan Xuan was maturity. She was in her twenties, while Xuan Xuan was still a teenager. Boys their age usually favored girls with slender figures. The water park allowed swimsuits, and Xuan Xuan’s white shirt caught her eye. “Let’s go to the water park.”
“The water park sounds good. They have water rapids there, no less exciting than the roller coaster.”
“Wan Qi Weihang, shall we head there?”
Wan Qi Weihang looked at Xuan Xuan, “Where do you want to go?”
Wan Qi Weihao spread out the map before Xuan Xuan. She pointed at several spots, her eyes lighting up, “Here.”
“No, that’s unsafe,” Wan Qi Weihao immediately refused.
Wan Qi Weihang asked, “Where? Bungee jumping?”
Xuan Xuan nodded brightly, her earlier drowsiness vanished. Most of the rides were either boring or childish, but this one matched her interests perfectly, “Let’s go here.”
“Well, let’s go then. Is there anything unsafe in our own park?” Wan Qi Weihang said.
Wan Qi Weihao hesitated but seeing Xuan Xuan’s determined face, he knew arguing was futile. He’d just be more careful. He nodded in agreement.
“Why don’t you all go to the water park,” Wan Qi Weihang suggested. “We’ll go bungee jumping.”
“Xuan Guo, shall we go?” Xuan Guo looked at Ai Zhe.
Nearby, someone urged Ai Zhe, “Ai Zhe, come with us to the water park.”
“I heard the bungee jump here is the highest limit in the entire federation—888 meters. I want to try it,” Ai Zhe said, showing interest but not answering directly.
People around Xuan Guo were indignant. Wan Qi Xuan Xuan said where she wanted to go, and everyone followed.
Xuan Guo seemed aggrieved, gently tugging at her dress. No matter where she was, she always carried herself with the grace of a lady. The white dress seemed her signature.
“Wan Qi Xuan Xuan is doing this on purpose, right?” someone said, glaring at Xuan Guo’s dress with dissatisfaction. Xuan Guo had just suggested going to the water park, but Wan Qi Xuan Xuan insisted on bungee jumping. Why didn’t she say so earlier? If Xuan Guo didn’t speak up, no one would.
Xuan Guo shook her head, “No, Xuan Xuan must want to go. Then we’ll go too.”
“You’re just too kind,” someone nearby said, feeling sorry for Xuan Guo.
But everyone was set on bungee jumping. This bungee jump was famous, and the boys were all tempted. The rest had no choice but to follow.
Though it seemed daunting, once they reached the bungee platform, legs began to tremble. Over eight hundred meters—while that didn’t sound like much, the two-minute ride up the transparent sightseeing elevator allowed a breathtaking panoramic view of the imperial capital, making the trip worthwhile.
The entire platform was made of a special transparent material. Standing there and looking down, the bottom was a deep lake, small in size but dark blue, indicating great depth. Above was a clear blue sky; below, the deep blue lake; in the distance, the full imperial capital spread out.
Yet many boys backed away at such a height. The risk was considerable.
No one else was on the platform. It was the first day, and this dangerous attraction wasn’t officially open yet. As a highlight of the park, it was meant to be the grand finale.
But with Xuan Xuan here, the bungee instructor was summoned immediately. The platform could support four jumpers at once.
Xuan Xuan’s eyes gleamed with excitement; it truly looked fun.
At such a height, without magic, the sensation of free fall would be thrilling.
The speed at the bottom could reach two or three hundred kilometers per hour, extreme enough to cause unconsciousness.
“I’ll go first,” Xuan Xuan stepped forward. She wore casual clothes, her long black hair tied high, exuding a heroic spirit, though her slightly chubby double chin somewhat diminished the effect.
Wan Qi Weihao stepped forward to stop her, “No, I’ll try it first.”
Xuan Xuan looked at him displeased. It was so interesting.
It was only a few hundred meters. She was confident she could jump without any magic or assistance, having trained physically for some time.
Wan Qi Weihao was resolute. Xuan Xuan pouted and let him go first.
The instructor quickly briefed Wan Qi Weihao on safety measures. They had thought only Wan Qi Weihang would come, but now the elder and younger heirs and Miss Xuan Xuan were all here—precious treasures of the Wan Qi family.
After repeating the safety instructions and thoroughly checking his main and backup harnesses and locks, Wan Qi Weihao prepared to jump.
