Chapter 39: The Ones Lacking Self-Awareness Now Are You
The navy is essentially an internet water army, but Chen He never considered himself part of that; he believed his work was righteous and honorable, never boosting the numbers for any malicious forces. That’s why he called it the Navy Studio. Jiang Sui sought him out precisely because his studio, refusing to accept shady or slanderous jobs, was on the verge of bankruptcy. Moreover, unlike most others, his studio had no connection whatsoever with Ji Sicheng’s companies.
The only issue was that Chen He, as the head of the studio, was still young and a bit of a hot-blooded idealist. It was said that back in his student days, he gained fame through several “national battles,” becoming such a notorious troll in the domestic servers that even foreigners on the other side of the firewall trembled at his name. After graduation, he founded his so-called “Navy Studio.”
The original script didn’t mention much about this studio. The only plotline related to Chen He was that his studio exposed the relationship between Bai Xixue and Ji Sicheng, and revealed how Ji Sicheng manipulated resources behind the scenes for Bai Xixue. This led to many celebrities being suppressed or even blacklisted for simply offending Bai Xixue, and also exposed some of Ji Sicheng’s bloody and violent methods in the shadows. In the end, the studio was crushed by Ji Sicheng’s forces, bankrupted, left deep in debt, and Chen He died in a car accident, implied to be suicide.
In the original plot, this was just a trivial sacrifice to highlight that anyone who defied Bai Xixue and her husband would meet a terrible end. It also served to reinforce Ji Sicheng’s image as a devoted husband and a ruthless, powerful CEO.
That was why, when Jiang Sui scrolled through her contacts and found Chen He, she immediately reached out to ask for his help with this matter. After all, the enemy of her enemy was, for now, a friend.
Chen He said, “I noticed a huge number of accounts forwarding the content we posted earlier. I thought you’d hired another studio, boss~”
Jiang Sui recalled what Lu Ye had said when she returned and guessed that this was his doing. So she replied, “No, I only favor your studio~”
Chen He: “(shy.jpg) Now I’m relieved. The boss still exclusively favors me. I guess Bai Xixue has offended too many people, and now justice has come down from the heavens.”
Jiang Sui: “Correct, I am the light of justice. At my peak, even the sun in the sky would have to shy away from my brilliance. If you don’t believe me, look up—doesn’t my light blind you so you can’t even open your eyes?”
Chen He: “...”
Why does the boss sound even more over-the-top than he is? But he likes it!
Chen He: “I just looked up—damn! I’m totally blinded!”
Jiang Sui: “...”
After a few more words with Chen He, Jiang Sui received another call from the production team. They wanted to discuss the upcoming live broadcast, hoping she wouldn’t say anything inappropriate during the stream. They also wanted her to explain that the previous call had been a misunderstanding and to stick to the official statement.
Jiang Sui’s response was simple. “Fine, but you’ll have to pay extra.”
The director’s tone turned irritated. “Jiang Sui, we already paid you more last time, and that was outside the contract. Don’t push it. With this attitude, you’ll never make it in this industry—you should know that. Who would dare invite you on a show again?”
Jiang Sui lazily picked at her nails. “The one without any self-awareness right now is you. I’ve recorded all your calls. It’s up to you, Director.”
“Fine, we’ll pay extra. But remember what you’re supposed to do,” the director said coldly.
Jiang Sui didn’t bother to reply, only smiling as she hung up.
