Chapter 18: Do You Know the Consequences of Hitting Me?
Lu Xuanxuan whimpered in distress, "Ouch... it hurts... it hurts..." Jiang Sui examined her wound, glanced around, and her gaze settled on several green plants nearby.
"Wait for me," she said, rising and picking the herbs. She rubbed them in her hands until they formed a small herbal cake, which she then placed gently on Lu Xuanxuan’s leg.
"Xuanxuan, darling, hold it still and don’t move. The pain will go away soon," Jiang Sui soothed.
Perhaps Jiang Sui’s calm demeanor helped Lu Xuanxuan calm down as well. From the moment Jiang Sui spoke to her, her cries gradually faded. She nodded, tears glistening in her eyes.
Jiang Sui’s anger flared. She stood up and looked toward Bai Xixue, who was also comforting Ji Chuan nearby. Without hesitation, she strode over.
Before Bai Xixue could react, Jiang Sui rolled up her sleeve—“Slap!”—and delivered a sharp slap to Bai Xixue’s face.
Her voice was icy. "You neglect your own tasks and make children do them. If someone else’s child dies because of you, would you pay with your life?"
Bai Xixue was stunned by the slap. The director and crew were shocked, frozen in place, even forgetting to cut the live broadcast.
"Jiang Sui, I admit I made a mistake, but what’s wrong with letting the kids gain some experience? Besides, with Chuan there, I didn’t think your Xuanxuan would get hurt. It was an accident—you can’t blame everything on me!" Bai Xixue retorted angrily.
Ji Chuan stepped in front of Bai Xixue protectively, looking fierce as he defended his mother. "Who gave you permission to hit my mommy? Xuanxuan fell on her own—what does it have to do with us?"
Jiang Sui sneered at her. "Bai Xixue, you let your son Ji Chuan do everything while you hide behind him like a coward. Is that your way of parenting?"
"If it weren’t for you urging Xuanxuan to go somewhere dangerous, do you think she would have gone? I warn you, you may not treat your son like a son, but if anything happens to Xuanxuan, don’t expect me to let you off!" Her voice was cold and threatening.
The hillside didn’t seem very high, but it was untended, strewn with rocks. If a child fell there, their delicate skin would surely suffer serious injury.
At that moment, the director remembered something.
"The live stream!" he shouted.
The production team snapped out of their daze and hurriedly cut all live broadcasts.
Jiang Sui went over and picked up Lu Xuanxuan. "We’re going back," she said.
Lu Xuanxuan gazed at her through tearful eyes, her little face scrunched up.
"Jiang, the doctor’s here," a staff member called timidly.
Jiang Sui didn’t turn around. "Have him bring some medicine for external injuries."
"Shouldn’t the doctor take a look?" Tina asked anxiously.
"No need," Jiang Sui replied.
"Jiang Sui," Bai Xixue suddenly called out.
Jiang Sui paused.
"You dared to hit me—do you know what the consequences will be?" Bai Xixue’s tone changed drastically, her voice now burning with fury.
Jiang Sui glanced at her out of the corner of her eye. "Tch, now that the live stream’s off, you’re dropping the act? Planning to threaten me with your sponsor husband?"
Bai Xixue’s face turned pale, but with so many people around, she said nothing more.
Leaving those words behind, Jiang Sui carried Xuanxuan away.
Just as she left with Xuanxuan in her arms, a sudden downpour erupted from the sky. Thunder and lightning raged across the entire resort.
