Chapter 14: The Teleportation Crystal

Teleportation Crystal?
Qin Yuan glanced at the Whispering Grimoire beside him. “You mean, he left something of great value in that floating island area?”
“Exactly!”
“That island was a fragment world the old man found back then in the Void Turbulence, rich in mineral resources.”
“Besides that, he once planted a ‘Sacred Rune Tree’ on the island. This is a very rare magical crop that bears a three-star magical material fruit called the ‘Sacred Rune Fruit★★★’ every hundred years. Consuming it can purify one’s constitution, enhancing elemental affinity across all attributes. Moreover, each fruit carries a unique effect; some who eat it have leveled up several times at once, others have learned ancient magical runes, awakened special physiques, or gained secret knowledge…”
“In short, it’s an item many powerful figures have desperately sought.”
“Also, considering it’s been over a hundred years since the last time it bore fruit, the next Sacred Rune Fruit should have matured by now.”
“That island is hidden within the crevices of the Void Turbulence. The old man only found it by sheer luck back then; it’s nearly impossible for others to discover it.”
Sounds quite promising…
A three-star magical material, and one that can be used directly. Hearing the description, Qin Yuan felt a stir of desire.
He carefully weighed the crystal ball in his hand and asked, “But why does it show that it currently lacks energy and cannot be used?”
“Well… I guess it’s because the old man forgot to recharge it with a mana crystal after the last use. He often did things like that…”
“Is that so…” Qin Yuan pondered. “Can mana crystals be bought outside? Or are there other ways to obtain them?”
“Mana crystals are a common magical material used by mages. Many items that require recharging can be powered up with them. You can buy them at most moderately sized alchemy shops. The price is about five gold coins per crystal.”
Whispering Grimoire replied.
“Five gold coins?!” Qin Yuan raised an eyebrow. That was quite a sum for him at the moment.
What’s more, they aren’t sold here yet. The road from the village to Blackstone Town is somewhat dangerous now. Waiting for the monthly caravan might take a while.
“That makes things a bit difficult…” He thought a moment and asked, “Is there any other method besides this?”
“Other methods…”
The grimoire fell into deep thought.
Qin Yuan looked on but didn’t interrupt, turning his attention to the room itself.
As his gaze settled, words began to appear before him.
…
[Illumination Crystal: A crystal that emits magical light. Prolonged exposure to this lighting can somewhat enhance your mana circulation speed. Currently damaged due to excessive energy consumption and cannot be recharged.]
…
[Exquisite Wicker Chair: Crafted from wood vines native to the Elven tribe, exquisitely made.]
…
[Alchemy Workbench: Used for common alchemical potion crafting. Requires mana crystal recharge to operate.]
…
[Laboratory Notes: Notes from a certain magical scholar.]

…
Qin Yuan stepped forward, picking up the scattered laboratory notes and flipping through them.
The first large page had only one sparse line written with a quill at the top:
“So that’s how it is… I ended up here because of this situation…”
“Will all of this… eventually be erased…”
Flipping further, the rest of the pages were completely blank.
For some reason, staring at those blank marks stirred a strange feeling in Qin Yuan’s heart.
These places were once filled with writing, but some mysterious force had erased them…
At the same time, a sensation of being watched suddenly descended.
It felt as though an indescribably terrifying presence had noticed him, sending chills down his spine and making his hair stand on end…
He cautiously turned his head toward the source of the gaze.
Only to meet two large brown eyes…
An owl feather tilted its head, staring at him.
“Why are you staring at me all the time?” Qin Yuan said helplessly.
“You startled me! I thought something was wrong…”
“Nothing,” the owl rolled its eyes and crossed its arms. “I just want to ask when you’re leaving. It’s so boring here.”
The room wasn’t very large and somewhat enclosed, which made it feel oppressive to the owl.
It preferred to soar freely in the vast outdoors.
“Wait!” Just then, the Whispering Grimoire suddenly seemed to recall something important and jumped up excitedly.
“I’ve got it!” it exclaimed eagerly:
“I remember the old man once discovered a pool of Mana Spring within the forest. It’s a wondrous spring rich in magical substances. Although it charges slower than crystals, soaking the teleportation crystal in it for a few days should recharge it enough for several uses.”
Hearing this, Qin Yuan felt a flicker of hope but still asked for more details:
“It must have been quite a while since then. Could the Mana Spring in the forest have been drained by others already?”
“Impossible,” the grimoire said firmly. “It’s not on the surface but in an underground area concealed by the old man with a special hiding array.”
“How long would it take to reach there from here?”
“It’s in the middle of the forest. Walking would take about three to four hours,” the grimoire considered, “There are quite a few level three and four monsters along the way, which might be a bit dangerous for you now.”
Qin Yuan thought: the owl feathers should handle monsters of that level, and now that he had grown stronger, he could contribute more in battle.
After some thought, he decided that since he had come this far, he wouldn’t give up.
“By the way, can I take this?” He turned to look at the alchemy workbench in the corner.

The table was cluttered with bottles and jars, and there was a device resembling a gas stove for heating.
Qin Yuan had some interest in potion crafting.
Besides, even if he didn’t use it, selling the machine would still bring some income.
“Of course, and even if you hadn’t asked, I would have made sure you took these utensils. They can be used to collect the spring water.”
“With these items, once you gather the necessary materials, I can brew the corresponding potions…”
Having figured out this key point, the Whispering Grimoire became quite enthusiastic and said eagerly, “Shall we set off now?”
Qin Yuan packed the workbench into his backpack and nodded, “If that’s the case, let’s go.”
“By the way, if I move around outside like this, it might attract too much attention and cause you trouble. But we can do this.”
The grimoire muttered an incantation, and its body rapidly shrank until it was only palm-sized, about as thin as a sheet of paper, then zipped into Qin Yuan’s clothes.
“Is this okay?”
The voice seemed to resonate directly in Qin Yuan’s mind.
“What kind of spell is this?” Qin Yuan was amazed.
He realized he could communicate with the Whispering Grimoire directly in his mind, no need for speech.
“This is an ancient incantation system. Your current human mages use magical runes, which conflict with this incantation system, so it cannot be learned for now.”
“I see…” Qin Yuan nodded, didn’t ask further for the moment, and set off with the owl feathers.
Passing through the archway where he had entered, he glanced back and hesitated:
“Should we hide this place again?”
“Although we probably won’t come back…” The grimoire sighed softly from within his clothes, then floated out and returned to normal size, muttering another incantation that Qin Yuan couldn’t understand.
Soon, ripples shimmered through the air, and the archway completely vanished, restoring the room to normal.
“Let it be.”
Watching this, Qin Yuan asked:
“What if someone cuts down that tree?”
“That wouldn’t matter. We are in a hidden space carved out, not inside the tree itself.”
The grimoire returned to Qin Yuan’s side and said leisurely, “This is a three-star spell, a bit premature for you. You’d need to reach at least level twenty to attempt mastering it.”
“I see…”
Qin Yuan understood. Although this magic book was sometimes a bit verbose, it knew quite a lot, and for now bore no ill will toward him. Perhaps he could ask it about many things directly.
