Seeing her expression, Xiao Qiheng’s eyes were filled with confusion. “What’s wrong? Are you upset because of what she said? I truly love only you!”
At his words, Wen Yurou snapped back to reality, taking a deep breath as her gaze settled on Xiao Qiheng’s face. “Your Highness, the Crown Prince, the one you love is no one else but yourself.”
“...”
Upon hearing her words, Xiao Qiheng’s expression changed drastically. “What do you mean by that?”
“Your Highness, Crown Prince, you never considered my predicament that day. If I had taken the prince there, would His Majesty really not have executed me?” Wen Yurou’s face was filled with grievance, her eyes tinged with pain.
Xiao Qiheng looked at her, frowning deeply. “I...”
He didn’t know how to explain.
“Your Highness, I won’t entangle with you. Please don’t do such things again. Treat Yang Liuyan well!” With that, she turned and walked away.
Xiao Qiheng hurried after her, reaching out to grab her. “Yurou, don’t go!”
Coldness glittered in Wen Yurou’s eyes, her voice indifferent. “Let go!”
“I will never let go of you. You are mine!”
Xiao Qiheng pushed Wen Yurou against the wall, lowering his head to kiss her cherry-red lips.
Watching his face inch closer, Wen Yurou’s eyes brimmed with disgust. She raised her hand to push him away, but just as his lips were about to touch hers, the door creaked open.
She was pulled into an embrace, and on the opposite side, Xiao Qiheng stood awkwardly, a trace of anger still on his face.
His gaze shifted to the person behind Wen Yurou.
The next moment, a chilling voice rang out from above Wen Yurou’s head. “Brother, what do you intend to do to my princess?”
Xiao Zexuan stood clad in black, exuding a deadly aura.
His gaze fixed on Xiao Qiheng, bloodlust flickering in his eyes.
“Xiao Zexuan...”
Xiao Qiheng’s voice lowered, bewildered at his sudden appearance.
“I was merely catching up with her,” Xiao Qiheng said.
At this, Xiao Zexuan’s eyes darkened with coldness, his voice sharp as ice. “Brother, she is my princess. You’d better keep your distance from now on!”
Seeing him protect Wen Yurou, Xiao Qiheng’s expression shifted, displeased. “I was only talking to her! Aren’t you overreacting?”
“Is that so?”
Xiao Zexuan’s lips curled slightly, his voice laced with danger. “She is my princess. If you dare to cross the line again, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
Hearing this, Xiao Qiheng’s face changed. “What do you mean?!”
Xiao Zexuan smiled faintly, but the smile was cold and chilling. “Exactly what I said.”
With that, he took Wen Yurou’s arm and left.
Xiao Qiheng stood there, watching their backs, his eyes blazing with anger and gloom.
“Your Highness...” Yang Liuyan stood at the doorway, her eyes red-rimmed.

“Get lost!”
Outside the Drunken Immortal Pavilion, Chunmei approached them, her eyes filled with puzzlement upon seeing them.
Wasn’t the prince supposed to be absent?
She walked to the carriage and just as she lifted the curtain, Xiao Zexuan and Wen Yurou climbed inside.
The carriage began to move slowly.
Wen Yurou sat beside Xiao Zexuan, looking at him as she explained, “It wasn’t the Crown Prince who summoned me, but the Crown Princess.”
“So?”
Xiao Zexuan’s gaze swept over her white dress, frowning. “And you came dressed like that?!”
Wen Yurou blinked, puzzled by his displeased look. “What’s wrong? Don’t you like it?”
He looked at her again.
Her dress was simple white, her hair neatly tied up, her face untouched by makeup, pure and clear.
Yet, the calm aura she exuded was captivating.
He raised an eyebrow, speaking lightly, “So plain, afraid the Crown Princess would not know about your affair with the Crown Prince?”
A sly smile curled on her lips. “I did it on purpose.”
Seeing her smile, Xiao Zexuan was momentarily taken aback.
It was the first time he’d seen her smile like that.
His brow furrowed slightly, surprised at how entranced he was.
He smirked softly, “Did the Crown Princess give you a hard time?”
“No,” Wen Yurou shook her head. “But I think she won’t bother me anymore.”
“Oh?”
Hearing her, Xiao Zexuan raised an eyebrow, a trace of doubt in his eyes.
Wen Yurou’s gaze met his, a faint smile playing on her lips. “She was right next door just now. I dare say she overheard everything she shouldn’t have.”
At her words, Xiao Zexuan’s eyes fell on Wen Yurou. “Why do you say that?”
Wen Yurou deliberately leaned closer. “Didn’t you hear the prince in the room to the left?”
Hearing this, a flicker of panic crossed Xiao Zexuan’s eyes. “I heard...”
His gaze inadvertently swept across her wrist, which was slightly swollen.
Frowning, Xiao Zexuan said, “Give me your hand.”
Wen Yurou was startled and instinctively took a step back. “It’s nothing, no need to look.”
“Hold it out!”

There was an unmistakable command in Xiao Zexuan’s voice.
Wen Yurou looked at his serious face and reluctantly extended her hand.
Xiao Zexuan took her wrist, his eyes fixed on it.
A large red swelling was visible.
His brow furrowed deeply, coldness flashing in his eyes. “Does it hurt?!”
Seeing his concern, Wen Yurou was somewhat puzzled. Why was this man suddenly so attentive to her?
But then she thought, this was her target after all. His concern was a good thing; she had to seize the moment!
She softened her voice deliberately. “It hurts a little, but it’s nothing.”
“A little? Are you sure?”
Xiao Zexuan’s gaze lingered on her swollen wrist, coldness shining in his eyes.
Noticing the chill in his eyes, Wen Yurou was slightly confused.
“I’m sure. Really just a little!” she nodded.
“Did the Crown Prince touch you anywhere else?” Xiao Zexuan asked, frowning.
Wen Yurou shook her head. “No.”
“No?” Xiao Zexuan’s eyes swept over her face, then down to her neck.
“What’s wrong?”
Wen Yurou looked at him, puzzled. “The Crown Prince only grabbed me. He didn’t touch anywhere else.”
“...”
Hearing this, Xiao Zexuan’s expression remained tense, but his gaze was complicated.
What was wrong with him? What did it matter where Xiao Qiheng had touched?
Seeing the emotion on his face, a sly glint flashed through Wen Yurou’s eyes as she realized—he was already jealous?
The carriage moved slowly along the street, the crowd thinning and the surroundings growing quiet.
Inside, their breaths were clearly audible.
Xiao Zexuan’s brows furrowed, lost in thought.
Wen Yurou watched his handsome face, darkened by gloom, and, puzzled, couldn’t help but ask, “My lord?”
