Chapter Thirty-Eight: Think You Can Fly Now?

When he saw that his words had received no response, he instead heard the other party give a cold laugh. “You really are narcissistic everywhere and at all times. I’d like to see just how far you can take it!”
As she spoke, overwhelming spiritual pressure surged toward him. Before the Golden Sun Giant Tiger could charge over, she had already reached him and launched a relentless barrage of attacks. Even when he managed to block them, he was still no match for her. She struck him again and again, causing his wounds to worsen continuously until they became increasingly severe.
The Golden Sun Giant Tiger could only stare helplessly from the sidelines. Every time it charged forward, it missed its target, and its expression grew uglier by the moment.
It could only watch helplessly as she attacked its master whenever it missed, unable to do anything except expend itself uselessly at the side.
After several exchanges, Xiao Jinghuai finally could not hold on any longer and collapsed directly onto the ground. Although he tried to force himself back up, he found that his entire body was weak and powerless. He could not even stand, let alone continue fighting. He had no choice but to withdraw from the competition.
He could only watch unwillingly, unable to say anything. After all, no one understood his own condition better than he did. He could not even stand now, much less fight.
All he could do was stare helplessly at the Golden Sun Giant Tiger, yet it too had been restrained. Even he had not expected this.
He was not the only one surprised. Everyone else stared in astonishment as the pitch-black crow held off a tiger far larger than itself.
Every time the tiger tried to charge forward, it was driven back by the flames the crow spat out. The tiger even seemed terrified of fire, constantly dodging and retreating.
Because of this, it was even less able to approach Xiao Jinghuai. The faint hope that had ignited in his heart was extinguished as well. The tide had turned, and the outcome was already decided.
Realizing that he had no chance of winning, he intended to admit defeat. Rather than be beaten unconscious, he might as well surrender and spare himself some unnecessary pain.
However, before he could speak, Su Yunqing moved. She lifted her foot and kicked him viciously. By the time he realized something was wrong, it was already too late.
That single kick sent his entire body flying toward the ground below the platform. He desperately wanted to reach out and grab hold of something, but the pain left him unable to move, and he was falling too quickly. Nothing about the situation was within his control.
A moment later, a thunderous crash rang out.
He had already slammed into the ground, looking utterly battered.

The impact knocked him unconscious on the spot. With him incapacitated, the match came to an end. Someone quickly rushed forward to restrain the Golden Sun Giant Tiger, while Su Yunqing recalled Little Mist into her personal space before leisurely making her way down.
The final result was something no one had anticipated. They had originally believed that either Su Yunqi or Xiao Jinghuai would come out on top among their group. In the end, however, the winner was Su Yunqing.
The students from the class one level above them were still competing, and their outcome had yet to be decided.
Shortly after Su Yunqing’s match ended, the woman in red came over. “Once today’s competition is over, go home and prepare properly. In seven days, someone will escort you to the Azure Parasol Sect.”
The journey to the Azure Parasol Sect was extremely dangerous, so the academy would arrange for someone to escort them there. They would remain for several days as well. If any of the recommended disciples failed to gain admission to one of the major sects, they would naturally be brought back.
“Thank you,” she said.
After Elder Red left, she found a relatively secluded place to rest.
However, because she had stood out too much earlier, quite a few people were now watching her. She was not affected by it in the slightest. As long as they did not come bothering her, there was no reason for her to care.
By dusk, all the competitions had ended, and those who had not yet left gradually dispersed as well. The academy gave them a few brief instructions before finally allowing them to depart.
Her pace unconsciously quickened. She wanted to return as soon as possible and cultivate. She had no interest in wandering around, nor would she become complacent merely because she had won this competition. She had not forgotten how she had died in her previous life. Precisely because she remembered it so clearly, she placed even greater importance on cultivation this time.
She had only taken a few steps when a voice called out to her.
“Yunqing, wait.”
Her brows drew together slightly. When she turned around, she saw an old man standing before her. The corners of his mouth lifted into a faint smile.
“Don’t stay at the academy today. Go home and rest. The family has prepared a banquet to celebrate your success in securing a place.”
She looked at Su Zhentian, who stood before her. There was no joy in her eyes; instead, they held a trace of mockery.
In her previous life, she would certainly have been delighted by those words. But she was no longer the person she had once been. Naturally, she would not care about such unnecessary familial affection, nor did she need his concern.
She had already died once, and the pain had cut straight to her heart. She would never walk the same road again. She would not cling to people who were unworthy, nor would she stop for them.

“No need, Family Head Su. I believe I made myself very clear before. Did Su Yunqi fail to convey my meaning, or was Su Yunyue unable to express it properly?”
“If they were unclear, I do not mind repeating myself. I want nothing more to do with the Su family. Do not come and disturb me again.”
She spoke each word distinctly, her resolve unchanged by anything he said.
The determination in her gaze was unmistakable, and Su Zhentian grew displeased. He had already lowered himself to approach her—what more did she want? Did she expect him to kneel and apologize? Hah. Su Yunqing was not worthy of that. He was the head of the Su family and would never do something so humiliating.
“Su Yunqing, haven’t you carried on long enough? You should know when to stop.”
“I know that I neglected you over the years, and it is understandable that you are angry. But everything should have its limits. Once you go too far, it becomes unacceptable. Do you understand?”
“Besides, I took the initiative to speak to you today. That in itself is me showing you respect. Isn’t that enough? Stop clinging to the past.”
It was obvious that he had little patience left, and his expression made it seem as though she were merely being unreasonable.
“Ha. Then give that respect to someone else. I don’t need it.”
“And what I said before was not something I blurted out in anger. I meant every word. Perhaps I once needed you as my grandfather, but I no longer do. In fact, you are not my grandfather anymore. From now on, we have no relationship whatsoever.”
Su Zhentian’s patience was wearing thin as well, and he no longer wished to continue. He decisively brought the conversation to an end.
“What? Do you think you have some ability now, so your wings have hardened and you want to fly away? Think carefully. Once you leave, you may not be able to come back.”
His words carried both warning and threat. He wanted her to reconsider, hoping she would develop some reservations and stop acting so recklessly.
