“Suyun Qing, you assaulted someone and still think you’re in the right?” Xiao Jinghuai glared furiously at Suyun Qi, who looked wronged and hurt.

“Your Highness, do you mean I should have let her hit me, then just lie there for years while encouraging her arrogance to continue harming others? At this rate, I’m afraid only you two will be studying at the academy; everyone else would be lying down like me.” Her words unsettled those who had tried to remain neutral.

Naturally, Xiao Jinghuai and Suyun Qi’s expressions darkened; it sounded as if they couldn’t tolerate the students at all.

Xiao Jinghuai’s face grew stern at the thought that if such words reached the palace, his father would surely be displeased with him again. “Suyun Qing, you’ve gone too far! Today, I will report this matter to the head of the Suyun family so he can discipline you properly.”

He beckoned for someone to deliver the message, expecting this would intimidate Suyun Qing. But she stood calmly in place, a trace of disdain in her eyes. “Hurry up! My time is precious!”

“Younger sister Yunqing, you first hit Xiaoyue, and now you’re slandering me and His Highness’s reputation. What good does that do you?” Suyun Qi said irritably, feeling increasingly vexed as she realized Suyun Qing had changed—no longer the easy target she once was, slipping beyond her control.

This remark left both Xiao Jinghuai and Suyun Qi looking displeased, as if they were being unfairly blamed for not tolerating these students.

Xiao Jinghuai was furious but maintained his composure; only Suyun Yue lost control.

She already hated Suyun Qing deeply, but endured because she couldn’t fight back. Now, with her older sister present and her reputation repeatedly tarnished, how could she stand it? She suddenly rushed forward, attempting to attack with spiritual power. “Die!”

No one expected her sudden assault, not even Suyun Qi, whose face instantly changed.

Xiao Jinghuai was momentarily surprised but mostly excited—if Suyun Qing was killed by Suyun Yue, it would have nothing to do with him, and the engagement would be resolved effortlessly!

Suyun Qing never lowered her guard and was ready to dodge when a tall figure suddenly appeared before her. With a raised hand, he neutralized the attack.

She looked closely and recognized the young man with a high ponytail who had been sitting beside her. He crossed his arms and smiled at them. “Miss Suyun is right; this matter truly calls for some discipline.”

Suyun Yue’s expression stiffened, and she could only look helplessly at Suyun Qi. “Sister, I...”

Suyun Qi was furious but restrained herself for the sake of her public image. “Apologize immediately!”

Then she said to Suyun Qing, “Xiaoyue was just temporarily blinded by anger. I will make sure to discipline her properly in the future.”

She spoke quickly, fearing that if Suyun Qing spoke first, more damaging accusations might follow.

Xiao Jinghuai hastened to support her. “Yes, she’s young and immature. You shouldn’t hold a grudge against her.”

Suyun Qing laughed bitterly at the remark, about to retort, when the young man in front of her spoke: “Is that so, Third Prince? If I didn’t know better, I’d think Miss Suyun was your fiancée.”

At once, everyone’s gaze toward him and Suyun Qing shifted subtly.

Xiao Jinghuai frowned deeply. This young man was not someone he could afford to offend. Though his background was unknown, even the emperor treated him with respect, so Xiao Jinghuai dared not provoke him rashly.

Though the remark was embarrassing, he could not lose face openly. “Young Master Pei, you misunderstand. I merely stand on the side of justice.”

“Justice? From where I see it, Miss Suyun doesn’t seem to have the upper hand.” The young man propped his chin with his left hand, a roguish smile playing on his lips.

For a moment, the crowd fell silent; none dared to take sides against them.

“Thank you all for your concern. Since this is a private matter of the Suyun family, we will handle it ourselves.” Suyun Qi realized the situation could not escalate further, lest not only Xiaoyue but also her and His Highness’s reputations—and the family name—be destroyed.

At that moment, an elder from Fengqi Academy arrived, scanning the crowd with a frown. “Fighting is forbidden within the academy.”

“Elder, my sister is immature. As her elder sister, I must teach her a lesson. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?” Suyun Qing’s gaze fell on the elder.

“Since this is a family matter, handle it at home before returning. We don’t want it to affect other students.” The elder said sternly and left with a wave of his sleeve.

After all, once it involved family affairs, an outsider should not interfere.

Suyun Qi dared not accuse Suyun Qing of ill intent, lest she become implicated herself, which she wanted to avoid. So she tacitly accepted the explanation.

“Younger sister Yunqing, since you say it’s a family matter, would you come back with me to the Suyun residence to resolve it?” Her eyes flashed coldly.

Once home, she would have their grandfather teach her a lesson to vent her resentment.

Suyun Qing glanced at her and immediately understood her intent, a cold smile curling on her lips. “If that’s the case, then His Highness should come with me, shall he not?”

In public, the Suyun family still cared about appearances. Even if they wanted to deal with her, they would restrain themselves with outsiders present.

This was not what Suyun Qi wanted, so she refused. “No, this is a matter of the Suyun family. Even if His Highness is your fiancé, that’s inappropriate.”

“I don’t intend for His Highness to meddle in family affairs. I mean to discuss the engagement. As the fiancé, he naturally has the right to be present.” Upon hearing this, Xiao Jinghuai, who had no interest in the family dispute, suddenly became intrigued.

This reminded him of the matter of dissolving the engagement. His eyes brightened as he spoke before Suyun Qi could. “I shall accompany you then...”

“In that case, Young Master Pei, please explain the situation to the academy for us.” With that, she followed Suyun Qing and the others, striding confidently. If one looked closely, they could see the eager joy shining in his eyes.

In the Suyun family hall, Suyun Zhentian slammed the table in anger. “What! Suyun Qing assaulted Xiaoyue in public and has even sullied the reputation of the two sisters!”

“Clan head, this is a serious matter! We must bring Suyun Qing back immediately. She can no longer remain at Fengqi Academy, or who knows what scandal she’ll cause next!” someone suggested, their anger flaring as they listened to the messenger sent by Xiao Jinghuai.

Just as they resolved to go to the academy, a frail figure appeared at the hall’s entrance. “No need to go. I have returned!”
