Chapter 20: He Made His Move
The elevator came to a halt, and with a ding, the doors slid open.
“What are you two doing?” A familiar male voice called out.
Ning Lu’s eyes widened, her heart leapt. The man opposite her withdrew his hand calmly.
Lu Hongyu turned around and met a pair of eyes filled with confusion.
“Dad, you’re here too?” Lu Hongyu remained composed, as if nothing unusual had happened.
Ning Lu felt a chill run down her spine. She was grateful that Lu Hongyu shielded her, standing with his back to the elevator doors.
Lu Yanfeng didn’t see what had just transpired; all he noticed was Lu Hongyu’s broad back and Ning Lu’s half-visible face.
“Where are you heading?” Lu Yanfeng asked, puzzled.
Lu Hongyu turned around smoothly, brushing the dust off his shoulder as if his clothes were dirty.
“Didn’t you ask me to take Ning Lu to study?” Lu Hongyu replied with a smile.
“That’s right...” Lu Yanfeng nodded. “Take good care of her. Don’t bully her.”
His gaze passed over Lu Hongyu and settled directly on Ning Lu.
Ning Lu forced a faint smile, pretending everything was fine.
“The young master’s clothes were a bit dirty, so I thought I’d clean them up a little,” she said lightly, offering an explanation.
Lu Yanfeng noticed the slight stain on Lu Hongyu’s shoulder but didn’t think much of it.
“All right, as long as you’re fine,” Lu Yanfeng said, nodding.
“Are you going to meet Uncle Ding today?” Lu Hongyu changed the subject, diverting Lu Yanfeng’s attention.
“Yeah, I arranged with Uncle Ding to go swimming upstairs,” Lu Yanfeng replied.
As he spoke, his phone vibrated, displaying a message from Mr. Ding urging him on.
“Okay, you go ahead. I’ll take Ning Lu to have a look around the hotel,” Lu Hongyu said, striding out confidently. He glanced back at Ning Lu with a meaningful look.
“Uncle Feng, I won’t bother you anymore,” Ning Lu said obediently.
“All right, let me know if you need anything,” Lu Yanfeng nodded and stepped into the elevator.
The elevator doors closed again. Ning Lu’s tension gradually eased as she shot Lu Hongyu a sharp glance.
Instead of anger, Lu Hongyu smiled smugly, raising an eyebrow with pride as he strode into the office.
Ning Lu followed him, and together they entered the spacious office.
The room was decorated in a minimalist, understated yet luxurious style.
---
“You just need to review these materials here today,” Lu Hongyu said, pulling out a stack of documents and tossing them onto the desk.
“All right,” Ning Lu nodded and pulled out a chair to sit.
There was a knock at the door. Lu Hongyu glanced at the time—it was almost time for his meeting.
At the door, A Jiu called out to Lu Hongyu, who responded with a “Yes.”
“I have a meeting soon and will be seeing some guests later, so I might not be back quickly. You can eat something at the restaurant around noon,” Lu Hongyu said, handing Ning Lu his employee card.
“Feel free to use my meal card,” he added.
“Thank you,” Ning Lu replied gratefully.
Once Lu Hongyu left, Ning Lu bowed her head to study the materials—mostly information about the hotel, which didn’t seem difficult.
She studied earnestly, occasionally using her phone to jot down key points, planning to review them later.
At noon, feeling hungry, Ning Lu took Lu Hongyu’s employee card and headed to eat.
She entered the elevator and pressed the button for the staff cafeteria floor, wondering what to eat.
The elevator dinged as it reached the next floor. The doors opened, and Ning Lu’s eyes flickered with a trace of unease.
“Well, what a coincidence!” Lu Sui strolled in slowly, a smirk playing at his lips.
Ning Lu took a step back, shrinking into a corner to keep as much distance as possible.
“Second Young Master,” Ning Lu greeted softly.
Lu Sui turned to look at Ning Lu, appraising her from head to toe. She deliberately averted his gaze.
The elevator doors closed again, the atmosphere growing tense; Ning Lu felt an inexplicable unease.
“What’s your intention in getting close to my dad?” Lu Sui asked with a smile.
“I’m not,” Ning Lu shook her head.
“Not?” Lu Sui’s lips curled into a cold sneer. “Women from the Ning family just love clinging to our Lu family...”
Ning Lu frowned, immediately thinking of Ning Xiang, her thoughts thrown into turmoil.
“What are you talking about?” Ning Lu retorted, displeased.
“When your sister got close to me back then, she said she wanted nothing. But later...” Lu Sui dragged out the last word, “She got greedy and even wanted my money? Ha!”
His tone was full of mockery, showing utter disdain for Ning Xiang, his expression tinged with disgust.
“What did you do to my sister?” Ning Lu asked nervously, stepping forward to face Lu Sui.
“Do? If it weren’t for me, she’d have starved to death on the street. She should be thanking me,” Lu Sui said arrogantly, folding his arms. A thought flashed through his mind.
---
“Where is she now?” Ning Lu’s voice quickened as her eyes locked on Lu Sui.
“You want to know?” Lu Sui said, and Ning Lu sensed a trap.
“Yes.” As soon as she spoke, the elevator reached the guest room floor.
Lu Sui gave Ning Lu a meaningful look but said nothing, striding out. Ning Lu immediately followed.
Lu Sui pulled out a room card and unlocked the door. Ning Lu hesitated outside.
“Don’t you want to know where your sister is?” Lu Sui raised an eyebrow, his eyes full of suggestion.
Thinking of Ning Xiang, Ning Lu steeled herself and stepped inside with difficulty.
The door closed behind them. Ning Lu watched Lu Sui warily, sensing his malicious intent.
“Ning Xiang running off was very disobedient,” Lu Sui gritted his teeth.
“Ning Xiang is a free person. She cannot be confined by you!” Ning Lu shouted, locking eyes with Lu Sui’s sinister gaze. A fire of anger blazed within her.
“Ning Xiang likes being with me...” Lu Sui began, but Ning Lu cut him off, grabbing his collar with both hands.
“Where did you take Ning Xiang?” Ning Lu gritted her teeth to force out each word.
Taking advantage of her momentary distraction, Lu Sui flipped her over and pinned her forcefully to the bed.
Ning Lu’s eyes widened as she looked at him. She raised her hand to push him away, but he pressed down harder.
“If you serve me well, I’ll take you to see her, so the two sisters can reunite,” Lu Sui said, lifting one of Ning Lu’s hands above her head while his other hand reached toward her clothes.
“Let go of me!” Ning Lu raised her leg, trying to break free.
Lu Sui trapped her feet between his legs. No matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t escape.
“Let go?” Lu Sui grabbed Ning Lu’s cheek and kissed her.
Ning Lu’s heart pounded wildly. If she didn’t leave, Lu Sui would surely commit unspeakable acts against her.
“Ning Lu, if you obediently sleep with me, I’ll spare you and your sister.”
“If you dare do anything to me, Uncle Feng won’t let you off,” Ning Lu’s eyes stung with tears, but she held back her emotions.
Lu Sui chuckled twice. “If you get ‘dirty,’ my dad will definitely throw you out of the family.”
Before Ning Lu could respond, Lu Sui’s hands advanced step by step...
