Chapter 15: She Will Not Come
Ning Yuanzhou looked pitifully, his eyes pleading toward Liu Zhuyin.
In the past, this tactic never failed.
Whenever he showed even the slightest discomfort, no matter what Liu Zhuyin did, he would always drop everything for her.
Even with Gu Yichen by her side, it was useless!
But today, he was disappointed.
“Oh? I’ll arrange for you to go to the hospital,” Liu Zhuyin said, summoning her assistant Sun Tao to personally take Ning Yuanzhou there.
She began packing her things, preparing to head to the airport.
“Ah Yin, I want you to stay with me,” Ning Yuanzhou begged.
“I can’t do this without you,” he pleaded.
“But I’m going to find Gu Yichen,” Liu Zhuyin replied, unable to see through his little schemes, nor did she have the mood to care.
Right now, she only wanted to find Gu Yichen and ask him face to face what exactly he intended.
Ning Yuanzhou was slightly surprised; he hadn’t expected his plan to fail.
But he had many ways to deal with Liu Zhuyin. Immediately, he clutched his chest and wore an even more pained expression.
“Ah, I... I feel so unwell.”
“Ah Yin, am I going to die? I won’t die, right?”
This was his final trump card.
Sure enough, Liu Zhuyin’s expression grew anxious, and she hurriedly followed him to the hospital.
Ning Yuanzhou felt triumphant inside. There was no way he would let Liu Zhuyin go find Gu Yichen.
Even if it meant delaying this matter!
But who could have expected that Liu Zhuyin was determined.
At the hospital, she called the doctor over and asked a few simple questions. Learning it was nothing serious, she began to give Ning Yuanzhou instructions.
“Ah Zhou, the doctor said your chest tightness is a normal reaction.”
“Don’t be nervous.”
“Rest well here at the hospital for the next couple of days, I’ll come back for you.”
Ning Yuanzhou was stunned. He had already pulled out his ultimate weapon, yet still couldn’t keep her!
Could it be that Liu Zhuyin had truly fallen for Gu Yichen?
“Ah Yin, what good will finding him do?”
“He tricked you into signing the divorce papers to separate from you.”
“Even if you find him, it won’t matter.”
Liu Zhuyin frowned but persisted.
“Then I still have to find him.”
Ning Yuanzhou’s heart trembled, growing anxious.
“Ah Yin, could it be... you don’t want to divorce him?”
Liu Zhuyin was stunned. She had never thought like that.
“Why would I want to divorce him?”
She didn’t understand why Ning Yuanzhou asked such a question.
After five years of marriage, Gu Yichen was a competent husband; she had no reason to divorce.
Even if Gu Yichen wanted a divorce, she did not.
“Alright, I won’t say more. The plane is about to take off.”
Leaving those words behind without giving Ning Yuanzhou a chance to respond, she hurried away.
Her demeanor was urgent...
Something she had never shown even in front of Ning Yuanzhou!
His face darkened, fists clenched tightly—creaking and cracking.
...
After leaving the hospital, Liu Zhuyin headed straight to the airport.
After check-in and boarding, ten hours later, she arrived at her destination and went straight to the hotel upon landing.
At this moment, I had no idea she would come looking for me.
I was overwhelmed by Luo Mingzhu’s constant attention.
This girl was a true heiress, barely capable of taking care of herself.
Whereas I wasn’t here for a vacation or to relax—I was basically her babysitter.
“Don’t say I’m bullying you.”
“I don’t have the strength to crack open crab shells.”
“But as compensation, this meal is on me.”
Luo Mingzhu proudly took the crab I had prepared, generously paying the bill.
“Hmph, having money really is the best.”
Though I said that, I wasn’t angry.
Handling crab was easy for me.
Liu Zhuyin loved eating it, and I always prepared it for her.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t do it herself; she was simply used to my efforts. When with Ning Yuanzhou, she would peel the crab and place it in front of him one piece at a time.
“What’s with that look? So much resentment! If I cover your meals from now on, is that not enough?”
“But seriously, you’re quite the pro at this!”
“Thumbs up!”
Luo Mingzhu giggled, showering me with compliments.
She gave me plenty of emotional support.
My efforts had often been overlooked before, so this feeling was new and strange—but pleasant.
“By the way, on the plane last time, you told me about your wife.”
“No, your ex-wife.”
“Do you really treat her that well at home?”
On the plane, I had simply shared my experiences.
I mentioned Liu Zhuyin and Ning Yuanzhou briefly.
We had met by chance, and I just vented openly.
Who would have thought this girl would latch onto me? Had I known, I wouldn’t have said a word.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Are you mocking me?”
I snapped back grumpily, making her chuckle.
“Not mocking.”
“I just think your ex-wife was really unreasonable. You’re calm and know how to care for others.”
“And as for looks... very handsome. Married for five years, and she never even liked you.”
“Now I’m starting to wonder if her ‘white moonlight’—her idealized love—is some kind of deity reincarnated.”
She jabbed me with words and precisely mocked Liu Zhuyin, making me laugh and groan at the same time.
“Can we not talk about her anymore?”
“Believe it or not, I’ll stop cracking crabs for you.”
Luo Mingzhu and I had grown close; she didn’t take my words seriously.
“Hmph, scare who? You’re the one who wouldn’t want to stop.”
“Hey, Chen, I’m asking you, do you really not want to get back with your ex-wife?”
She opened the gossip box with her big curious eyes.
For days, she kept pressing me on this.
I smiled slightly. “What do you think?”
“I think... even if I wanted to reconcile, I’d have to cool her off first.”
“So she doesn’t think she’s the only one for me.”
“Although I’ve never dated, this is like business. Whoever gives in first gets taken advantage of.”
Rough words but not without reason.
Love where one side is hot and the other cold is truly not worth it.
But I never considered getting back together.
Once gone, it’s forever.
Who knew her next question would be this.
“Chen, let me ask you one more.”
“If your wife came to find you, wanting to reconcile, what would you do?”
I wanted to laugh.
How could Liu Zhuyin possibly come looking for me?
Her heart was set on Ning Yuanzhou; she hadn’t spared a moment for me.
Unless the sun rose in the west, she wouldn’t think of me.
“Your question is meaningless.”
Yet she insisted on digging deeper.
“Come on, just tell me.”
“Even if there’s a one-in-a-million chance, what if she really comes?”
“What would you do?”
“Would you decisively refuse, or... rekindle the flame?”
She was clearly determined to get an answer, tilting her head and staring without blinking.
As if she wouldn’t stop until I answered.
I sneered coldly.
“She won’t come.”
“So I have no reason to answer you.”
But just as I finished, an angry voice rang out behind me.
“Is that what you think of me?”
