Chapter 108: Reversal, the Golden Ring
Page (1/3)
Swish swish—the monster appeared in the blink of an eye! A claw swiped toward Gong Jiu, who was crouched on the ground with her back facing it... At that moment, Hua Feiyao wondered... Could it be that the scent of this woman’s menstruation had attracted its attention?
But Leng She furrowed his brows and suddenly abandoned the completely suppressed Sui Yi, lunging toward Gong Jiu with a claw!
Naturally, Gong Jiu, who possessed the treasure map, was far more valuable. Sui Yi was simply too troublesome and unpredictable.
In such a situation, Leng She remained as calm as a serpent.
Gong Jiu was indeed beautiful, with a naturally alluring figure—curvaceous in all the right places, her hips exquisitely shaped.
So at that moment, a man’s hand reached out toward her, and a monster’s claw reached out toward her too...
Sui Yi, being a decent person, would never be as perverse as Hua Feiyao, she thought—Gong Jiu, what do you make of this?
Though inwardly resentful, Sui Yi still took action!
Leng She’s strength was far greater than Sui Yi’s—indeed, much stronger.
When Sui Yi tried to block his sword strike, Leng She twisted his wrist with force, causing Sui Yi’s arm to ache painfully as he slammed him against the great door...
Thud!
A dull sound echoed from Sui Yi’s chest, but Leng She was momentarily stopped by her, and the Gong Jiu on the ground was kicked in the rear by Sui Yi! She lurched forward just as the monster’s claw swiped through the air!
Turning its head, it came face to face with Leng She...
The angle was perfect.
It looked as if Leng She was blocking it.
Whether by human nature or animal instinct, the monster was filled with murderous intent toward Leng She.
Hissing! Its jaws opened wide, emitting a sinister hiss.
Leng She was momentarily stunned.
Damn it, once again Sui Yi had been outmaneuvered.
The monster lunged fiercely at Leng She in an instant, while Sui Yi seized the opportunity to drag Gong Jiu up from the ground.
At this moment, Gong Jiu was drenched in cold sweat. When Sui Yi pulled her up, she did not stand but instead clasped his hand with urgency, saying, “I remember the map said: ‘The nine gates of the mysterious sect, listed first, the universe’s essence... is right at this spot!’”
Everyone listened in astonishment.
What he said was obviously a clue from the treasure map; under these circumstances, she probably wasn’t faking anymore!
So, she really was searching for the entrance?
But immediately, a chill ran down Gong Jiu’s back...
Sui Yi yanked hard, slamming her against the wall. Ahead, Han Zi was kicked flying by Sui Yi, and the beast-toothed dagger was flung out!
Rotating blade technique!
Swish!
The blade sliced through Han Zi’s arm, blood flowing freely...
The “people” surging from behind went mad, pressing forward rapidly, putting immense pressure on Cadis and the others.
Meanwhile, the hand of Gong Jiu, pinned against the wall, suddenly stiffened as she stared in shock at the wall behind her...
Her palm frantically searched around.
Hua Feiyao cursed loudly upon seeing this, “Damn it, your treasure map’s a piece of junk! What door mechanism! You’ve searched the ground and the walls... maybe you should check the roof...”
She was about to continue cursing when her voice abruptly cut off.
Because Gong Jiu’s delicate white palm pressed down on a perfectly intact stone wall, revealing a square indentation.
It was clear that the length and width of her palm fit exactly within the groove, just enough to press it down...
If it were any longer or shorter, or shifted even slightly, it wouldn’t depress.
A groove recessed just enough, and beside it the flawless door surface suddenly protruded a golden zipper ring.
Right at the center of the door.
Strangely, as if from some divine myth, most present were shocked and panicked, yet there was no time to discuss further.
In an instant, many hands reached for that golden ring, trying to pull open the door.
At the same time, the layers of “people” behind surged forward, tearing and clawing at many, filling the air with a thick stench of fresh blood and a pungent odor, all mingling into a chaotic mess.
Women of noble birth like Gong Jiu and Hua Feiyao were most intolerant of such smells and both retched softly.

Yet, Gong Jiu and the others were truly unable to resist at this moment.
It was just too crowded!
“Damn it! The one in front of me, stop pushing! My gun’s barrel is pointing right at you...”
“Don’t push, don’t push, damn it! The gun’s about to fire!”
“Hey, the one in front, pull that ring... pull hard! Have you eaten yet?!”
Several members of the team, who had been intent on killing, now complained.
Little shrimps, small fish, big fish, sharks, whales—all gathered in this tiny space, helplessly trapped by the overwhelming tide crashing in, inevitably falling into a passive situation.
Sui Yi watched this scene and, hearing the complaints from Gong Jiu and others, chuckled softly.
From Gong Jiu’s side profile, she saw Sui Yi covering his mouth with one hand, blood seeping through his fingers...
She was terrified!
Miss Gong Jiu was rarely frightened or startled in her life.
Even if she encountered a deranged rapist-murderer late at night, she could ask calmly, “Are you wearing a condom?”
Of course, the most terrifying moment was when she almost got thrown into the water tank and had a hysterical breakdown—her only real scare until now.
Now, this was the rare second time.
Not because everyone in front couldn’t pull the ring, but because Sui Yi was bleeding!
He was actually bleeding!!!
—And he never even had a period!
Gong Jiu panicked, unsure where she found the strength, but with an internal force burst, she pushed several people aside and came to Sui Yi’s side, pointing her gun at the nearest “person” and firing.
A headshot!
Blood and brain matter splattered over many people.
She grabbed Sui Yi’s arm and strained to pull the ring.
Several tugs yielded no movement!
Damn it, could the ancestral treasure map be a dud, a trap?
At that moment, Sui Yi’s eyes flicked upward, spotting a green shadow leaping down...
Many saw it, many were scared.
Though they knew the door couldn’t be opened, at the brink of death, everyone hoped for a miracle.
So, in a flurry, a dozen more hands grabbed the small golden ring.
Pull!!!
At that moment, everyone’s faces lit with inexplicable hope.
Because the originally sealed door cracked open a slit, light spilling out...
Buzz~~~
The door swung open, and a group of people surged inside. How many fell and how badly no one knew for sure; what mattered was that Sui Yi wiped the blood from his mouth at top speed and glanced back. Behind them, countless “people” snarled and clawed fiercely.
And faintly, a streak of blood could be seen on the golden ring.
Gone in an instant.
As the space expanded, no one had time to examine the scene ahead; they turned and fired at the crowd by the gate.
Killing while retreating.
No one had time to deal with other enemies; after all, there was a difference between humans and these “people.” Given their terrifying strength, Leng She wouldn’t be foolish enough to kill Gong Jiu and the others.
The group quickly dispersed...
Behind them, the “people” seemed strange.
“Huh!”
“They can’t get in!!!”
“They’re retreating!”
They can’t get in? Sui Yi frowned deeply. Could it really be that they couldn’t enter? She’d seen these “people” moving through the tunnels beneath the palace. If the tunnels were passable, why couldn’t the main hall above be accessed?
But now the enemy was retreating?
Sui Yi’s tongue was filled with the metallic taste of blood as she leaned against Gong Jiu, turning her face toward the gate and whispering, “Someone’s controlling these monsters... and be careful of Leng She.”
Knowing the monsters couldn’t enter the palace, Leng She naturally aimed his gun at Gong Jiu and the others.
At the same time, Gong Jiu and her group raised their guns toward them.

Interestingly, Leng She’s group, once the largest, was now heavily wounded.
More people meant more casualties—this was the first taunt exchanged by Gong Jiu and Hua Feiyao.
Indeed, they mocked them well.
But Leng She paid no mind, holding his gun in one hand and twirling his longsword with the other, a sinister smile on his face. “Numbers don’t matter; I’ll kill enough of you.”
True, the enemy still had thirty people, while Gong Jiu’s side... including the remnants of Aguna’s tribe and their own people, had just twenty.
Though the difference wasn’t huge, the enemy was fully equipped with ammunition.
Gong Jiu’s side, however, was running out of bullets and arrows; the tribe’s quivers were empty.
No matter how skilled you are with archery, without arrows it’s useless.
Hence Leng She’s confidence.
Gong Jiu and her companions all grew grim.
Sweat broke out on their palms; those with guns twitched at the trigger, while Cadis and the others sneered...
Their eyes locked focus one by one.
On Gong Jiu and her companions’ heads...
“Who wins and who loses? That’s far from certain~~”
Outside the gate, a group walked in leisurely.
They too held guns.
Brother Ma swaggered forward, pulling out a grenade and shaking it.
“Sorry, I’m late... hanging from the tree was tough to get down, but thankfully, didn’t miss it.”
They had not missed, arriving just in time.
Each of these men held a gun—and they were all formidable.
In front of them stood Gong Jiu and Leng She’s groups, now joined by Brother Ma.
Three factions faced off.
The grenade was intimidating.
Leng She paused for a moment, then suddenly smiled.
Even his brows seemed to tremble.
“I wondered why Miss Gong’s people died so cleanly—turns out she had backup... perfect timing.”
With that, he smiled and waved his hand, signaling his men to retreat to the other side.
Once all parties disappeared from each other’s sight, Gong Jiu and the others exhaled heavily.
Damn it, the death crisis was finally over.
As Gong Jiu proudly and confidently went to ask Brother Ma and the others some questions, Sui Yi looked at the sorrowful faces of Aguna’s tribal people, then averted her gaze.
Life and death—who could really say?
She had survived another ordeal, yet felt little joy, only a deepening unease.
This unease came from the palace itself.
And this unease felt strangely familiar—like the first time she opened her eyes and found herself utterly alone, without a single relative.
Looking out into the vast world, under the endless blue sky and white clouds, all life felt desolate.
She was utterly alone.
She alone.
Six years old, Sui Yi, orphan.
This was all anyone had ever told her.
Nothing more.
