Chapter Seven: My Wife Is Not Proper

At the edge of Cloud City at night, the sea was churning wildly. When the waves finally calmed, a faint scent of seawater lingered in the air.
A beautiful day had begun.
Being in love with Su Rouxue always filled him with an irrepressible passion and energy.
In the early days of their relationship, he was usually the more proactive one—initiating greetings, taking the lead in couple-like interactions, and so forth. But now, she had become much more forthcoming than before.
At that moment, Su Rouxue rose and walked into the bathroom, a gentle smile on her lips as she gazed at Xia Shu’s reflection in the mirror. She wrapped her arms around his strong frame from behind, rested her cheek lightly against his shoulder, and murmured, “I wish every day could be spent like this with you.”
“So do I,” Xia Shu replied, taking her delicate hand in his.
Their fingers intertwined as they stared at their reflections together.
After a moment of sweet intimacy, the two began to brush their teeth together, wash up together, and continue in perfect sync.
“I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but I feel like we’re starting to look a bit alike,” Xia Shu chuckled, pinching Su Rouxue’s cheek as he traced her jawline.
“It seems that the longer people are in love, the more they begin to resemble each other. Eventually, they even develop that so-called ‘couple’s face,’” Su Rouxue replied.
“There must be a reason for that—like all the kissing, right? And maybe…” Xia Shu’s expression turned mischievous.
Hearing this, Su Rouxue pinched his side hard.
“Ah!” Xia Shu quickly straightened, the sharp pinch jolting him awake.
“Thinking naughty thoughts again?” Su Rouxue huffed, her brows furrowing in mock severity.
“Of course not!” Xia Shu shook his head vehemently.
“Oh really? You’re always so restless when you’re with me,” Su Rouxue teased, a playful gleam in her eyes.
“It’s your fault for being so irresistible!” Xia Shu crouched slightly, pressing his forehead close to hers.

Su Rouxue laughed softly, saying nothing more.
She simply immersed herself in the time they shared.
Sometimes, happiness between lovers is just that simple. There’s no need to do anything special; as long as they’re together, even a quiet exchange of glances can make their hearts brim with warmth.
At that, Xia Shu was no longer content—he spun Su Rouxue into his arms and carried her out of the bathroom.
For all her years, Su Rouxue had never experienced such comfort in love before.
Perhaps… it was simply because Xia Shu suited her so perfectly.
Every time she was held in his arms, her heart overflowed with joy.
Sometimes, she even found herself lamenting that if only her little brother were a few years older…
Though their romance was still young, Su Rouxue now found herself, for reasons she couldn’t explain, wanting to marry Xia Shu.
Of course, she would never confess such thoughts to him.
From the very beginning, she had tried to warn herself not to be too lovestruck, but…
Her little brother was just too adorable!
Apart from not yet being able to provide for a family, he was flawless in every other way.
At night, when they slept, Xia Shu even snored softly.
In that moment, Su Rouxue found it endearing.
She even recorded a snippet of it on her phone.
She usually stayed up about half an hour later than Xia Shu.
In that half hour, she thought about many things.
Like how, when Xia Shu reached the legal age for marriage, she would be thirty-four—and then…
Yes, it was thoughts of age that made Su Rouxue lose her confidence.
In a few years, if she began to age more rapidly, lines appearing on her face—would this boy in her arms still love her?
At that thought, Su Rouxue couldn’t help but kiss Xia Shu’s neck.
“Hahaha, that tickles,” Xia Shu laughed, unable to contain himself.

“Will you really love me for a lifetime, Xia Shu?” Su Rouxue looked into his handsome face with utmost seriousness.
“Of course I will. I’m more worried that you’ll think I’m too young, that you won’t want to wait for me.”
Xia Shu worried, too. He’d often thought about their age gap, fearing that she might not be willing to wait those few years.
He knew well the kind of pressure a single woman of Su Rouxue’s age would face.
Even if they married as soon as possible, it would be at least four years from now.
If, by then, he couldn’t give her a satisfactory future, the truth was Xia Shu would be filled with guilt.
So…
This love was sweet now, but the road ahead would be long, and there were many obstacles they would have to overcome together.
Xia Shu was not a man who spoke only sweet words. Over these months, he had promised Su Rouxue so much.
It wasn’t just emotional support—he had started to take real steps in life as well.
For example, he was thinking of ways to improve himself and earn extra money during university, without letting it affect his studies.
That summer after graduation, Xia Shu found a path that seemed to suit him—writing novels.
Surprisingly, it was a good fit.
It all began because he’d spent most of his free time before college reading web novels and sometimes popular spin-offs. So when he finally decided to try writing his own novel, it was accepted for publication on his very first attempt.
Even if it was just a relatively niche light novel platform.
At least it proved that someone was willing to read his work.
Now, Xia Shu wasn’t too concerned about how much money he could make—as long as he got a full attendance bonus each month, that was enough.
His chosen genre, though, was a bit… delicate.
If Su Rouxue ever found out, she’d probably be very interested.
Because…
The title of his novel was—
“My Wife Is Far from Proper”!
